It was a clear, cold night; the dark sky was splattered with Pandoria's bright white stars. Truly, Aurelius could not have wished for a more beautiful sky to soar off into! The heavens above him were practically shouting for him to finally come home, and the once fallen star was anxious to leave.
King Blithe and MeriKlaus stood beside him, the king's great crimson, silver and gold palace rising up like a sparkling shadow behind them all. For a moment Aurelius felt a pang in his chest, a sadness that he would be leaving behind such amazing friends. After all, they had risked so much to rescue him! Aurelius took comfort, then, in the fact that they understood that a star could simply not be earthbound for long without suffering horribly, and that next Mistmas, he would be seeing everyone again.
Aurelius could feel power surging through his body once again. Good wishes, pure hearts, the happy and generous spirit of the season, it was all culminating in the pure energy that would send the star back to his kin in the sky.
A bright aura of bright blue and silver enveloped Aurelius and he smiled joyfully, his face turned upwards, suddenly feeling a powerful desire to laugh. He glanced back at his two friends, still grinning. "I'll be back before you even miss me...and I'll try not to be so troublesome next time!"
This got a small chuckle out of Blithe and MeriKlaus, though they still looked more sorrowful than Aurelius thought the occasion warranted.
He sighed lightly and faced the sky again, the aura around him swirling and dancing like fire. He raised his hand in a wave of farewell, then with a mighty rush of wind that nearly toppled over his companions, Aurelius disappeared in an eye-burning flash.
MeriKlaus and Blithe tried to blink away the bars of color seared into their vision as they looked up. Suddenly MeriKlaus pointed excitedly, smiling brightly. "Right there, look!" She cried, and King Blithe turned his eyes to where she was directing.
A huge ball of light was streaking across the black sky, dimming all other stars it came near. Hundreds of colors burned in the star's wake, illuminating the earth beneath it almost bright as sunlight and painting the white snow of the Blizzard Realm vibrant as any rainbow.
Finally, the good star had gone home! He flew once again through the skies of Mistica, passing over the Diamond Glacier Domain, where Queen Boreal scowled at the bright palette now marring her icy realm.
It had, of course, taken her no time at all to be freed of her own dungeon, and her obsessive ambition to flatten King Blithe, MeriKlaus, and Mistica as a whole only burned fiercer in her mind. The sound of a kohal walking through the halls behind her made the queen's face harden. Truly she was beginning to hate the sight of them.
Glaring at the useless creature's retreating back, Queen Boreal turned from her window and headed deeper into her castle. Next year, her pathetic foes wouldn't be so lucky.
