Our last reduction is in place, you can now Trick or treat ever 20 mins, or every 15 mins if you are a Champion Supporter!

Also remember, our Lanturn and Phantom Pandoria Boxes will be retired by the morning and will not be seen in general release until next October!

Stay tuned for one last post for the evening once the costume contest judging has been completed! 

Jasper’s Circus was all but clogged with sugar-laden Misticans, and no wonder; Lanturnaucht had finally arrived!

The Jinx enjoyed a mile-long line outside of his prize tent, everyone with sweets ready to trade in for the collectibles he offered. With much smiling and flourishing of his claws and pitch black wings, Jasper strutted about, quite happy in his spotlight.

And in the Banshee Swamp the Chamber of Evil cast the crowd below it into shadow. Eager to get inside, Misticans moved about in the eerie mist, waiting their turn and pretending to giggle at the faint shrieks coming from the stone Chamber. Albrecht stood outside, calling out: “My Chamber of Evil won’t be open for much longer! If you’re still seeking prizes, I suggest trying to find them quickly!”


The Trick-or-Treating was coming to an end as well, but the festivities continue nonetheless! If you’re enjoying the Jinx release, the oceans around Mistica seem to be harboring a new kind…

…and not to be left out, celebrate Lanturnaucht and the lovely Jinx with these elegant earrings!


Keep an eye out for Jinx Pinatas, out in full force today and tomorrow!

The moon hangs high in the sky and the shadows creep in the flicker lights of the lanturns that Misticans keep lit at this time of the year.  All over, Mistican's enjoy Trick or Treating and the revelry of the fall celebration.  Many are on the lookout for new and strange creatures they could encounter in the night, like this one!



And while Trick or Treating, take note that the times have been REDUCED!  Members can now trick or treat every 45 mins, while Champions can knock again at 30!  Lanturnacht draws closer!

The Circus had been a much quieter affair this Lanturnaucht without Jasper’s usual chaotic presence. He had kept to his own tent, and the Misticans visiting had long since given up on trying to get him to come out.

But as the crowds began to swell for yet another evening filled with screams and questionable sugary food items, Jasper surprised them all. With his usual manic grin and Gregory growling atop his head, the Jinx opened up his tent with a dramatic bow. Behind him, his once lost pals glowed faintly, their spirits content for now to be with their living master.

“Your attention!” He called out, and almost as one everyone turned at the carrying sound of the Jinx’s voice. His grin widened and Gregory let out a low, gargling sort of cackle at the quick obedience. “I do hope you all have been trick-or-treating this year! My tent is rather full, you see…”

With a flourish Jasper gestured to the shelves of prizes now set up inside Lanturnaucht Loot, no longer pushed up against the walls to be kept out of the way. A cheer went up from the throng of Circus-goers and a good number of them ran over to line up outside for prizes. No longer did they have to search for tombstones to get inside; Lanturnaucht Loot was open to everyone!


And it looks like this revived Lanturnaucht spirit is infectious! The Legendaries are getting in on the fun with a costume contest, so start hunting down all those wearables! Will you be a robed devil or a glittering winged angel? Or will you burn out eyeballs putting together a costume that would shame a Sprite?

Albrecht von Emmerich smirked widely at them all, twirling oily-looking mustaches between the thick fingers attached to his long ears.

"Enter at your own risk, there are rewards within. However... I wouldn't advise you to take your littel pals in there; for their own protection of course.  The maze monster just may decide they look like a tasty snack!  Sign these waivers on your way in please..."


Jasper watched the ongoing spectacle, absently fondling a small gem in his hand. Three eery figures floated about him, offering some small degree of comfort.


The Chamber of Evil has opened once more!  What sorts of great items lurk within?

Lanturnacht Loot is now accessible by those that have done Tombstone Quests! Thank you for your patience!

In the ever-present shadow of the Chamber of Evil, Albrecht was alone, as he’d been this entire Lanturnaucht season. By now, a crowd should have been clamoring to get inside for a look at the horrors the Koko had gathered, but not today, or any before, for that matter.

Albrecht knew he had to find a way to appease the Jinx, lest his Chamber remain closed forever (and his pockets empty!). He scowled, a furry hand balling into a fist in frustration. He wasn’t any good with apologies, and anyway, he still didn’t think there was anything to be sorry for. What were a few deaths? Pals were easy to buy again, after all.

But Albrecht didn’t have a choice. With a put-upon sigh, he rose and withdrew into the blackness of his empty Chamber, where an idea struck him.

It was time to visit Zulime.

Meanwhile, Jasper’s black mood continued. While the gathering of his lost pals’ tombstones had taken the edge off his mourning, the Jinx hadn’t participated in Lanturnaucht at all. He had heard his own employees whispering behind his back, wondering if he was somehow touched in the head. After all, he was an entertainer, and to ignore the crowds clamoring for his circus was quite out of character…

Suddenly, the usual monotonous drone of voices outside Jasper’s closed tent changed to gasps and a few yells. Frowning, Jasper looked up and heard Gregory growling atop his head, in no better spirits than his more articulate companion.

The last person Jasper wanted to see ducked inside, and he wasn’t bearing a bit of tombstone as other Misticans had. Jasper jumped up as Gregory let loose a snarl; the Jinx was sure he’d have lunged if the hat possessed legs.

“Get out!” Jasper snapped, pointing at the tent flap with one needle-sharp talon, “Unless you’re here to test my threats? Gregory seems in the mood,” he added, with a rather wicked grin in the orange hat’s direction.

Albrecht shook his head and took a step back, keeping Gregory in his peripheral vision. “Of course not,” he said, taking a stab at his usual smooth, oily tone, and failing as his voice jumped an octave, “I’ve simply come to make amends for the…incident. Terrible, it was,” he added solemnly, but Jasper was having none of it.

“You have three seconds to leave these grounds befor—“

“Oh, your various warnings have been quite specific; there’s no need to add more,” Albrecht cut in, a little shocked at his own bravery. Jasper looked positively livid, his eyes wide and glittering with a dangerous light that even the Koko, for all his fearlessness in the face of deadly evils, didn’t dare test further. Instead he withdrew a small gem from his pocket, which seemed to be made of glass. In the dim light of Jasper’s tent it glowed with a trio of light and shadow, from deep black to silvery grey to bright crimson.

Jasper eyed Albrecht suspiciously but backed down, crossing his arms over his chest, wings ruffling. “And what is that? I have no end of useless things,” he said, gesturing to the prizes lined up against his wall that Misticans clamored for every year.

“No, not useless,” Albrecht corrected him, and set the gem on Jasper’s table. “Zulime can do more with her black magic than manipulate species,” he explained, “as proven here. See? Your presence is activating it.”

Despite himself, Jasper looked down and gasped as the gem’s glow filled the entire tent. In a moment, three smoky, translucent figures zoomed out of it, settling themselves before Jasper. A silvery Phantom Vipard, a wispy red and black Coally, and a misty-looking Binx looked up at their former master.

Jasper was speechless for a moment, looking down at his lost friends. Albrecht filled the silence. “You see, during Lanturnaucht, you can summon their spirits here anytime,” he explained, “since now is the season when the veil between the spirit and living worlds is the thinnest. They will remain for as long as you want, but keep them from their rightful place too long and their spirits will weaken.”

Jasper nodded. He had no inclination to thank Albrecht, for the Koko had barely atoned for what he’d done, but he supposed feeding Albrecht to Gregory was a bit harsh now. “Fine. Leave my Circus alone, and you can keep all your limbs.”

And not wanting to push any further, Albrecht bowed himself out to make the journey back to the Banshee Swamp and his Chamber. He had to prepare it for opening tomorrow!

Jasper sighed, his long talons drumming on his desk. For the first time this Lanturnaucht season he was in his tent, though it remained firmly shut against the few Misticans milling about outside it. Their voices drifted in, tones of curiosity that made it clear no one was going to let the Jinx be anytime soon.

But the fanged grimace that had seemed permanent on Jasper’s face had lightened, if only a little. On his desk, with his various prizes set aside to make room, were several pieces of smooth rock. They all had rough edges, and seemed like unfinished shapes: his pals’ tombstones. To their credit, Misticans all around had risen up to Jasper’s request wonderfully, and he was well on his way to making sure his lost friends rested in peace.


Still, the Jinx shook his head. This Lanturnaucht, so far, seemed like a bust to him. What good was the holiday if he was locked away, brooding on the many ways Albrecht could be fed to Gregory?

With Jasper still in his dark mood, Lance has stepped in to cheer everyone up! Maybe after tracking down this rockin’ outfit, you can stop by Harmony’s to complete the look with a guitar!

First off in this newspost, I want to issue a big thank you, personally, to everyone that is a part of our community. Your continued support and input is so vital to what makes Misticpets the place it is today. We can sense when you guys are upset because of your dedication to this community and the care you each share for Misticpets; and we love when you are happy and enjoying events and all the things that staff work so hard to put together for you.  Heading into our contests for November, our focus is on the Mistica Family and all that it encompasses.

This also means that contest entries from last month have been approved and are up for VOTING! The Competition is certainly going to be fierce, we had some FANTASTIC entries this time!  Voting is so important, I have a feeling only one or two votes will seperate the placements!

Albrecht paced, his usually clever gaze ruined by a furrowed brow. Behind him loomed the enormous stone Chamber of Evil – his masterpiece, the hub of Lanturnaucht festivities. At least, until a horrid Jinx had let his pets run loose to ruin it all!

Not even Albrecht was willing to test Jasper. He had posed no few number of threats, everything from allowing Gregory to swallow Albrecht whole (apparently, that was entirely possible with a hat) to posting one of his sideshow monsters at the entrance to turn people away (presumably to drag them back to Gregory for dinner).


But it wasn’t even his fault! Albrecht stomped the ground, furious; just because he’d been curious to see what the Chamber could do to Misticpals, rather than his usual Mistican customers, did not make him responsible for any deaths. Jasper, unfortunately, had failed to see it this way, of course. 

Albrecht sighed. Somehow, he would have to get back on Jasper’s good side, but for now his precious Chamber would remain closed.

While the infamous Koko fretted, however, shopkeepers have been getting into the Lanturnaucht spirit! Determined not to let the brooding Jasper set the mood or the Chamber’s shut doors ruin the morbid holiday, shipments of various amazing things have found their way to the shelves.

The carnival has settled in, attracting the morbidly curious Misticans who wander its grounds every Lanturnaucht. Lines form outside the tents, from Belladonna’s fortune telling to the infamous sideshow (was that a scream, by the way?) – well, all except for one.

Jasper’s Lanturnaucht Loot remains firmly shut against the crowds. The Jinx could instead be found pacing around the circus, through the tents, and in a dark mood. Eyes fixed on the ground, his mouth was tight and even Gregory was silent atop his head.

People gave the brooding Jinx a wide berth as he walked. Whispers followed him, though, wondering what had gone wrong, and a few observant Misticans remarked that he’d been like this for days. One even had the brains to mutter about pals disappearing into the Chamber of Evil, and shouldn’t Albrecht have opened that place by now? Jasper growled at the name and hurried on, fists clenched and wings ruffling in agitation against his back.

He found himself back at his tent, and saw several Misticans there waiting for him. Trick-or-treating had started, they reminded him, so why couldn’t they turn in their candy as usual? Jasper opened his mouth to tell them exactly where they could stuff their candy, but then an idea burst to the surface of his mind. These people could help couldn’t they?

And smiling grimly, teeth glinting in the moonlight, Jasper took the visitors aside to ask them for a favor…

Click above to join in the Lanturnacht Hunt and try to restore Jasper's spirits!  He's lost 3 dear misticpals, and it's up to Mistica to retrieve and assemble their tombstones.  Blast that Chamber of Evil! Coppa trid to warn everyone, but no one wanted to listen...
 

It's up to you to endeavor this Lanturnacht season on collecting the pieces of these tombstones. To start, you may embark on one quest a day, but this will likely increase. There are several prizes to earn, so you  may gather extra tombstones as you wish.  Those that gather one of each tombstone will be granted early access to Lanturnacht Loot.  
All you need to do is pick which tombstone you wish to gather, and collect the pieces as they randomly appear on the page. Once you've gathered all 5 pieces, you can approach King Blithe to put them all together. Jasper will gladly accept your finished tombstones and give you a prize in exchange.

Lanturnacht is a great time to be a champion supporter!

HAPPY LANTURNACHT!

The site will be going down briefly for a scheduled Maintenance at about 3am this morning. (Mistic Standard Time) We do not expect it to last very long, but we wanted to give everyone warning! 

 

The third and last day of Jahzara's tale was upon her, and the fortune-teller did not disappoint. Wearing her usual knowing little smirk the woman sat once again, and as before, a small crowd had soon gathered around her. She was patient and waited until every straggler had settled down, then let silence fall for a few seconds, allowing anticipation to build.

 

 

"We come finally," she intoned, and it was as if her audience's ears had pricked up visibly, "to the very end of Lanturnaucht's tale. Jack, having frightened the malicious phantom who had attacked his dear sister, spoke before the entire village. In one hand he held a pommekin...but it was unlike anything seen before.

The inside glowed! The settlers marveled at the frightening thing as Jack began to explain. He had hollowed out the inside and placed within it a brightly burning candle, then on the face of the pommekin, carved a pair of evil looking eyes and a wide, jagged mouth. Light and a pommekin, the phantom's two fears, together in one!

Well, the villagers were astonished, and there was no argument: they set to work immediately, hollowing out pommekins, gathering candles, and carving the most horrific faces they could think of onto the fruits. Then they placed them around the outside of their village and around their homes, so the night glowed with the fitfully flickering lights of hundreds of small candles.

And that night...was silent. As was the day after." Jahzara smiled and she opened her mouth wide, allowing her voice to carry loudly over the people sitting around her. "The settlers had won! The phantoms never visited again, except to creep along the edges of the village, snarling but unable to cause any harm. The candle-filled pommekins were called Jack O' Lanterns in honor of their creator. Years later Darkwood Hollow would be tame enough for the lanterns to not be needed, and that, my dears, is how our beloved Lanturnaucht came about."

The storyteller stood abruptly, fixing her listeners with bright, knowing eyes. With a small chuckle Jahzara swept away, her skirts swirling about her ankles, and she was lost in the darkness once again.

But before you go to contemplate this tale Misticans, let's take a moment to celebrate! Today, we celebrate TWO birthdays!

Jahzara arranged herself once more by her archaic fire pit, pulling at and smoothing out her colorful, voluminous skirts as she sat. The woman was quite aware of the eyes glued to her as listeners began gathering again, all eager for the rest of Lanturnaucht’s tale. Jahzara fixed them all with a sly little smile and spoke.


“Last I left you,” she began, her low, hypnotic voice carrying easily, so every ear heard clearly, “our story had barely begun. Phantoms were terrorizing the innocent, new settlers of Darkwood Hollow. They had conquered their fear of the daylight and were not restricting their attacks to the moonlit hours anymore. Settlers found themselves pelted with pommes every hour of the day; it was relentless, merciless…yet no one had risen up to fight back.” Jahzara’s smile widened; she paused, letting her words bury themselves deeper into her audience’s minds.

“Then a young Mistican named Jill was struck hard on the head with a clockwork pomme. Her older brother, Jack, became enraged at the unprovoked attack. His sister was sweet, docile…and how dare anyone, he thundered, attack her!” Jahzara’s voice had risen powerfully, but then her volume suddenly dropped. Her listeners leaned in closer. “Impulsive and angry, Jack hefted a pommekin and hurled it at the cackling phantom with all his strength - and it drove the creature away!

The cause…well, no one could really understand it, but it seemed that the phantoms feared pommekins. Jack concocted a brilliant plan…and prepared to address the entire group of settlers - the lone, brave soul willing to stand up for the beaten down Misticans.” And Jahzara stopped there, much to her audience’s consternation. She simply smiled her serene, mysterious little smile at their protests and outbursts, standing gracefully and smoothing out her skirts once again, obviously preparing to leave. “I will be back with the ending tomorrow,” she said, “so use this time to think on what I have already said.” With that, Jahzara turned and swept away from the fire, swallowed by darkness.

Jahzara may have deserted us until tomorrow, but there’s more good news coming! We have a lot of great apps from our last round when we asked who might be interested in moderating our site, but we want to give one last call out to those interested.

The reclusive Jahzara has decided to grace us Misticans with her eerie appearance once again to tell the story of Lanturnaucht. She settled down around an old fashioned fire pit, her eyes almost glowing in the fitful orange light. A small, knowing little smile played across her face as she watched the listeners gather around her.

“Once again,” she began in a low voice, almost a whisper, so everyone’s ears pricked and they leaned in closer, “I’ve come to regale you with the tale of Lanturnaucht - there are new faces from last year, after all…” She smiled slightly wider. “My telling will, I believe, be shorter this time, so mind you listen closely.” Her voice hadn’t raised at all, but something in her eyes said she meant every word as though it’d been shouted.

“Darkwood Hollow,” she continued in a louder voice that seemed to resound around her, enrapturing her audience, “was not always so tame. When the first settlers came here years ago, years before Lanturnaucht was even thought of, it was a treacherous place for those who…did not belong. Your forefathers faced many perils to make even our small part of the woods safe, and one of them brought about this celebration.

Phantoms were terrorizing the humble settlers, you see. Their home had not been abused in any manner but they seemed to find it…entertaining…to come out in the dead of night, when the air was chill and the forest floor was black, the moonlight blocked by the forest’s thick, leafy canopy. The phantoms would take handfuls of pommes from the trees and hurl them mercilessly…many of the settlers took injuries because of it, and they would wake every morning to see their small wooden cabins damaged - sometimes partly caved in - from the constant barrage of pommes. This only happened at night; the phantoms seemed to fear the sunrise, and for this the settlers were grateful.” Here Jahzara paused, her bright eyes fixing those before her with a hard, piercing stare to be sure they were paying attention.

Cold autumn winds have chased away the heat a sunshine of summer, and on the tail of those chill breezes come familiar faces: Jasper and his circus have returned once again!

For most of the year the field near Rordon Village is desolate, lifeless; colorful tents dot a small plot of land but they are shut, and not a soul wanders the carnival grounds. Now, however, Jasper’s Circus has come alive once more, complete with a shady cast of characters…

Jasper has his own tent, but if you visit, watch out; this Jinx is tricky, and his companion Gregory might just take a bite out of you! He mans the prize tent, and while his stock is rare and valuable, you might want to think twice about taking home any of his wares. He takes candy and exchanges them for points, the only currency valid in his shop.

Belladonna will welcome you with a smile, her face aglow from the light of her crystal ball. Not that all of her predictions are cheerful…

Are you in the mood for a show? If you’re brave enough, walk into the sideshow tent, but be warned; you might not come out in one piece.

Elijah has a game for your enjoyment – or maybe it’s his? Only the lucky walk away with a prize, but you might lose a few important things along the way.

Another way to kill some time at this creepy circus, knock a few doors! The doorknockers are available to peruse and ponder which one you might care to use once Trick or Treating is in full swing! Remember, Champions get to pick from a wider selection...
