If you haven’t caught it yet, there’s some nifty Haruba Day Fun Facts posted in Mistic Chat.  Check it out to learn more about your favorite felines!

The Haruba Day festivities continue, even as the sun begins to set across the land of Mistica.  Just look up at the sky, the stars are starting to shine!

The Magical Pomme Tree is also getting into the spirit, it seems.  The Haruba Day cheer has caused it to start growing some rather unique pommes.

Keep an eye(stripe) out for this new visual as well, then you can enjoy Haruba colors all year long!

Finally, Pandoria is stocking a brand new egg in honor of this special day.  I wonder what could be inside?

Haruba Day!

Today is a day to celebrate one of Mistica’s favorite feline friends (who seem to have thieving tendencies!).  Erika is already setting the mood with some lovely baked goods.  The paw-print jam cookies are actually one of the Haruba’s favorite dishes to make at home, but Erika has done a stellar job of recreating the recipe.

Arielle is also stocking what she believes will be the hottest toy of the season.  You can get one of your own for the low, low price of 4999 MC – your Haruba will love you for it!

The Delight Pixie is also out and about again today and spreading the Haruba holiday joy.  She has been a rare sight lately with her Pet Slot Coins and Pandoria Box prizes, but she has a tremendous stock of Haruba Pinatas to give out, so you should be seeing her more frequently today.

There's a new theme for Harubians today.  Who will be the first to get one of these playful snow beasts?


And if you still can’t get enough of these feline creatures, you might want to pay Teshia a visit.  She has something that will have you seeing stripes all over your house!

Oh dear!  There’s quite a lot going on in our normally peaceful land today!  There was quite a bit of squabbling in the shops! 

Our normally cheerful sweets shop owner, Kandie, has had her feathers ruffled all weekend over Makoto commandeering her stock of gummy fish.  The beach was filled with squawks and hisses most of the morning until a triumphant Kandie returned to her shop with crates of gummy fishes.  They will now be stocking in Sweets R Us. 

She still seems to be missing one, however.  Perhaps that sneaky Makoto had a hand in this.  

While straightening out her stock, Kandie came by a crate of seasonal goodies.  Upon opening the box, she found a bunch of candy canes, along with several strange orbs!  She wasn’t sure what they were, but they felt warm and delicate, so she suspected them to be eggs… She has since handed them over to Pandoria to look after them.  Maybe you should pay the goddess a visit and see if she needs help looking after them?  There’s a limited supply…

Perhaps several of you noticed that there wasn’t a news post yesterday.  That’s normally Zarabeythe’s job, but she seems to have disappeared!  Hail is currently leading an investigation in the Mistic Chat.  Care to help?  There’s a special prize for the person who’s able to crack the case.

And finally, amidst all the squabbling and disappearing site owners, we have a happy announcement.  Today is a rather special day for one of our staff writers, so please help in wishing a very happy birthday to Eme!  Be sure to sign her birthday card in Mistic Chat!

Due to some power outtages and other inclement weather, I apologize for the briefness of this post.

We’re all familiar with the sneaky imps.  Even if you haven’t seen them, you’ve reaped the rewards of their mischief by visiting the weekly giveaway.  Today it seems as though they have a rather special present for you.

Is this some sort of gag gift?  The box lid won’t come off!  Can you figure out another way to coax this present out of its package?  You should be able to do so in record time…

In other news, shop restocking has been tweaked just a bit and the shops should be restocking more frequently with this new system.

They are so overrated!  While all Misticpets and Misticans (and books!) are lucky to have them, there are creatures out there who get along just fine without them.  Let’s take today to pay homage to these brave and noble creatures without vertebrae (who also make delicious meals because they take less time to de-bone!). 

Gordon has prepared a sumptuous delicacy today.  Never mind what's in the escargot, just enjoy the meal! 

Tara also has a cute little something for your pets to play with.  It's sure to make a splash come bath time!

Howl at the moon (or the sun)!  Did you know that when two or more Ahbruis begin howling together, it’s called a “chord?”  I have a feeling we’re going to be hearing a series of chords all through the day because it’s…

Ahbruis Day!!!

And there’s a lot to celebrate!  As you know, Ahbruis can live in either hot or cold climates, so some ancient tribes though of the Ahbruis as beings of both the sun and moon because they were found in the extreme heat of the Inferno Terrain as well as the bitter cold of the Blizzard Realm.  

Pandoria has suddenly started stocking these rather unique eggs, which seem symbolic of the sun and moon legend.  These hatchis seem different from any hatchi we’ve seen before.  Perhaps they are affected by the lunar cycle?

While you’re out celebrating with your wolfie friends, be sure to keep an eye out for the Ahbruis visual so you can enjoy those mystical Ahbruis all year long!  This particular visual seems to cater to the wolfies who prefer more icy climates and people...  

And finally, watch out for that Delight Pixie!  She’s passing out piñatas!  What will you find?

We just wanted to make everyone aware that the Weekend Credit Event rules have been updated.  You can view them on the second post on Zarabeythe's Mistic Chat topic: Guide and Credit Events! The new rules have been colored red so that you can find them quickly.

When participating in a Credit Event, you are not allowed to edit your posts for any reason.  If you need to add information or if you want to submit your guess again, you need to make a new post.  If you do edit your post, you will not be allowed to participate in future events.

This is to prevent not-so-nice users from cheating by making a post early on, waiting for the correct answer to be posted, and then editing their earlier post with the stolen answer, making it look like they were first.

We're trying to keep things as fair as possible.  Thank you for understanding.

Speaking of the old bruin, Blithe has let his belly dictate his alchemical pursuits, check out what he's concocted now! While some look pretty yummy, there are a couple that might make you squirm!


"These tasty treats are sure to delight you all! Find the right ingredients and you'll be rewarded! Three to make my delicious Blackbird Pie, and three to make the oozy goo too! To make your dirt treat, five items you'll need, not all of them edible. Mix wisely, you don't want to end the game with a boom!"

Seems like perhaps he found some time after filling his belly to come up with this remarkable fellow. How in the world did he manage this?


"Take care with this snowman, three items are all it takes to make a pal to call your own!"

Take heed to King Blithe's words if you want to make these items, Mistica. Keep in mind that to mix wrong forfeits your items, but the rewards are plain for all to see!

We are pleased to announce that two talented individuals have been invited to join the Mistic Writing Team.  The staff would like to welcome Malik and Jetflint!  We look forward to working with you both and can't wait to see what creative texts you'll bring to Mistica!

Thank you to all who applied.  We received many fine stories and descriptions and it was truly a difficult decision.  To those still wondering about the artist applications, we have almost reached a concensus and will announce those any day now.

In other news...

All of that talk of Quaris must have had some sort of effect on the Magical Pomme Tree; look what's growing!

Sorry for the confusion over the shops not stocking earlier. We were implementing a new system! The initial changes that you will notice are as follows:

1. Shop restocks are now random. Not every shop will stock each restock, and the time between restocks will vary.

2. Item stocks at 1 max currently once again. We upped the max stock when quests were introduced because the more common items had been ignored for so long, making them more 'rare' in effect. They will remain at 1, while we work out the new system.

Stay tuned, we'll update more over the next couple of weeks to make shoping in Mistica much more exciting!

There seems to be some sort of gathering at the beach today!  I wonder what’s going on?

Why it’s Quari Day, of course!  Quari from all themes and colors are gathering at the shores of Bamboo Beach to celebrate!  Shopkeepers from all over the globe are getting involved with the festivities.  If you care to venture down to the Blizzard Realm, you’ll find that the original Normal Quari Plushie has received a revamp and now has 13 more friends in a variety of colors!

Today the Delight Pixie is passing out more than New Year’s Crackers – browse the site and you might be gifted with a rare Quari Day Pinata.  I wonder what’s inside…

Officer Coppa is on the scene, telling us all not to worry about reports of illness spreading amongst the Quari population. Seems like a quarantine is in effect elsewhere in Mistica...

We apologize for the inconvenience of the downtime we experienced this evening.

I submitted a support ticket and waited for our lovely server techs to come to our rescue. Thankfully they did and got us back online.

Their explanation was as follows:

"We have checked and found an error with the main hardware node. The hardware node has been rebooted and you server is working fine now. Please check it from your end and let us know if you need any further help."

They will be monitoring the server and taking steps to ensure that we do not go down again.

“Gregory and I are off to travel the globe in search of more autumnal pals and intriguing artifacts,” he says as he tips Gregory, his Possessed Top Hat. “We’ll be back with plenty of new surprises as well as some old favorites. Until next year, Mistica!” Jasper waves good-bye and Gregory gives a wink as they both ride off in the wagon.

Forums are now a little wider, to accomodate a new column: Latest Info. So you can hop right to that hot topic if you'd like!

The biggest change is the way that users can now EDIT their posts!! A history is kept and excessive editing will result in staff contact as it can lead to a bogdown in forum resources. (but we know this is the MOST often requested feature for the forums)


We have a new editor that will make formatting a breeze, and we hope everyone enjoys it!

There are various backend controls introduced as well to make things a little easier on our mod team, but these will not affect forum use for all our lovely members. :)

Most of you will be pleased to know that the Bewitched Poppets have been changed!  Your pets will now retain their theme or toadstool color when you use a Bewitched Poppet on them.*

With the old system, if you had an Oceanic Haruba and wanted it to become an Oceanic Draklaita, you would have had to purchase a Betwitched Draklaita Poppet, which would turn your pet into a Normal Draklaita, and an Oceanic Pandoria Box in order to get an Oceanic Draklaita.  

But with the NEW system, all you have to do is purchase a Bewitched Draklaita Poppet, use it on your Haruba, and -- BOOM!  You have an Oceanic Draklaita without having to purchase a second Oceanic Pandoria Box.  

We know this change has been much anticipated and we hope you enjoy it!  Now to see if you can find Zulime’s elusive poppet shop...**

* There is a small catch to this new system.  If you attempt to use a poppet on a boxed pet, but the new pet is not available in your current pet’s boxed theme, you will get an error message and the poppet will not work.  You will have to change your current pet’s theme to something that is available to the new pet’s species.  

** Please note that Zulime’s shop is hidden and everyone must find her on their own.  Hints as to where to find her on the map are perfectly fine, but sharing explicit directions, links, or the shop’s URL is not allowed.

When Queen Boreal didn't get her way, it seems that she decided to retreat once more to her icy fortress. Now there are a few pets wandering Mistica that need homes of their very own!

They are ready and waiting for their forever homes and will be one of the best pets you'll ever own! (I woulnd't recommend white sheets for bedding though...)

Take yours home today, and pick your favorite ribbon adornment!

These pets are EXTREMELY limited. They will be released in batches, but once they have all found homes, it will be announced. Perhaps more will surface next year?

What an exciting Sunday! A select group of ninja pre-beta testers helped us get this surprise ready and the time for unveiling is at hand!

The Beta chat is now open for ALL champion members of Mistica. You will help us iron out the kinks and get to deal with a fair amount of upheaval over the next week or so. But we'll have fun with it!

The chatroom will NOT be open 24 hours a day. The Chatroom will ONLY be open when an admin or mod is on to moderate and chooses to open the room. (meaning they are on duty)

Once the beta testing is complete, it will be opened for all of Mistica to enjoy, however there may remain a Champion only room. Please heed the few rules at the top of the chatscreen and enjoy!

To change your Chat Icon, head to your preferences and the forum settings. There is a new box for the chatroom. :)

It has come to pass, Account Clearings have happened once more. Those accounts, inactive for a period of 18 months or more have been purged from the system.

This means that:

2579 Usernames have been cleared
&
3802 Petnames have been cleared

Hope everyone gets the names they are waiting for. :)

Fireworks shoot up from all around Mistica’s globe as clocks everywhere chime 12 times marking midnight and the start of a brand new year!  Pets and Misticans alike throw up their party hats, spin noise makers, crack party poppers, blow horns – anything they can think of to be as loud as they can!  Amidst the celebrating a rainbow light shoots up into the sky, even brighter than the fireworks.

 

It’s Aurelius, shining brightly as a star once more!  It looks like the “item wars” on the boards, hopeful posts, and good wishes were enough to make Aurelius strong again!  Our pets are back! 

 

“Farewell, Mistica, but never fear!

Your pets are returned and I’ll be back next year!”

 

With this final good-bye, he blazes across the sky once more, his beautiful comet tail trailing behind him.  It’s a little sad to see our dear friend go, but the New Year holds promise for growth, new friends, and exciting beginnings.
