Rewards!
Posted: September 28, 2012

With the new peace in Sango Reef, its sandy paths were no longer vacant. No one knew where Monty and his henchmen went, nor did they care, and without them terrorizing shopkeepers and citizens the reef was full of activity. Or at least, more active than it had been in years. Anemone’s exotic lines of clothing had taken off, even among surface dwellers, and the Fishmonger and Sea Witch had trouble keeping their shelves stocked!

Selich was thrilled to see Sango Reef as it should be, and not crunched under the teeth of a bunch of criminals. He felt a certain pride knowing he’d helped bring this all about, but the Misticans trading tales of the battle around him kept him humble. Oh, he’d fought, but not quite as well as some he’d seen.

In addition to the reef’s trio of shops, Selich had gathered together trinkets and prizes in addition to the trophies for those who’d defended Sango Reef. He called everyone together.

“You all deserve much more than this, for facing Monty,” he announced, “but it’s the best I have!”
"Everyone that participated will receive this set of weapons, and be known as Reef Defenders."

Thank you to all who participated in beating Monty!

"Those that fought harder than others, will be named Reef Rescuers, and will also receive this second set."

Thank you to: Kauri, Oidua, Raichurules, Puredream, Kite, RuthieRox, Rose, Wolf, King, CapnHarris, & Stormwalker!

"And finally, for those that fought the hardest, they will be known as Reef Champions and will receive this final set as well!"

Many thanks to:  Amethygre, Resolve, Wasteland, Pesticide, Venus, Kat, & Sanyadriel!

Defeat!
Posted: September 26, 2012

EDIT:  LAST DAY TO TURN IN YOUR NOMINATIONS FOR THE SPOTLIGHTS!  MAKE SURE TO NOMINATE FOR EACH CATEGORY!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monty didn’t understand how they were doing it. The Misticans came at him, and he tore at them with his teeth, slammed them mercilessly into the rocks and sharp coral, and they fell. But moments later, he was barraged again, the wounded coming back as though Monty hadn’t landed a single blow!
His strength slowly dwindled. Even after the potion he’d forced the Sea Witch to make him had healed him, the Misticans had continued to come, each only landing one or two blows but never stopping. It was like fighting a horde of zombies!
The Collector, Mook and Bodyguard had long since fallen back, and Monty was all but fighting on his own. As the hours passed, the shark became slower, his attacks missed more often and every fiber of his being ached.
Captain Jack was heard screaming and rallying his crew: “He’s weak, men!” And to Monty, it was an insult. No one had ever dared to call him “weak” before!
But it was true. Soon, Monty and his henchmen were cornered. They could take no more of the fighting and were surrounded by warriors who weren’t even winded. Captain Jack pushed to the front, grinning insolently, sword pointed right between Monty’s eyes.
Jack Skillow
“Surrender,” he demanded, the currents of Sango Reef accentuating his odd, wavering stance.
Monty snapped, but realized they had no choice. “Fine. We’re finished,” he growled, and the victorious army jumped and roared with delight.
---
Monty and his goons have finally been defeated! Of course, all your valiant efforts won’t go unrewarded; be patient and maybe a few shiny things will find their way to you! Which tier will you be in?
NO!
Posted: September 25, 2012
Furious in his rage, the Misticans had almost gotten him beat, when he pulled out a vial of strange concotion... Something he kept up his figurative sleeve just in case he needed it as the battle wore on. A special gift, there would be no reprieve if this didn't help him beat back the tide of raging Misticans, the sea witch had assured him that it would work wonders.
We thought we had him!  Don't give up now! He's got to be feeling some fear now!
FIGHT!
Posted: September 25, 2012
Monty had enough, and he waded into the fray of battle, snarling at snapping at all those who stood in his way.
(click above to hear Monty's theme song!)
One by one, every hero that took a stand fell by the wayside...exhausted after only a few blows.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pandoria
Even secluded in Darkwood Hollow, Pandoria could hear the cries of pain and angry shouts of battle that arose from Sango Reef. Today, though, it was worse; the goddess could almost feel the exhaustion and fear herself. Monty had taken up arms and had proven himself too formidable, and Pandoria had to wonder what everyone had expected. The shark was master of the sea, and most of the fighters were used to having land under their feet. They needed her help.

So Pandoria walked outside, almost surprised by how peaceful Darkwood Hollow still was, despite the chaos across the sea. She stood under her great tree and stretched her staff out towards Sango Reef; the jewel began to shine as the goddess quietly blessed the ones fighting on the side of good. They would still have to rely on their own strength, but Monty's blows wouldn't keep anyone down for long anymore.

Only by standing together would this Monty fall to the Misticans.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What say you Misticans, are you ready to take on Monty and beat him? Only together can we hope to ever whittle him down to size!
--Losses against Monty will not count in your loss total.
(Previous losses prior to our fix will be deducted later)
--Do not worry, everyone will be losing, for some time. ;)
--Your pets will automatically heal after a battle with Monty.
--This will need to be a group effort! Band together!
--Have FUN!
Turmoil and toys...
Battle Portal
The once peaceful Sango Reef now churned with the chaos of battle. Pirates were everywhere, their shouts of “For the Black Pyre!” muffled by the salty water, but their attacks no less fierce. Swords clashed and magic was so thick that in places the sea looked like it was boiling.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Captain Jack was in the fray, practically laughing as he expertly parried the Mook’s claws and took the opening to barrage the Risylki with his sword. The henchmen were quite predictable, attacking the Captain on his right side, as though the patch over his eye incapacitated him.
Jack Skillow
Through the coral and the seaweed the Misticans and the henchmen clashed, and though the side of good was larger, Monty hadn’t picked fools to defend his territory. The shark was fairly certain of victory, but he was itching to fight, too. Maybe he’d jump in soon and show those surface dwellers and dirty pirates how a real battle was won…

The Sea Witch remained open for business, with a special new line of rubber toys. Geared towards the newest species of Mistica, the Risylki!

War in the Reef!
Posted: September 23, 2012

The sleek Black Pyre rolled with the gentle waves around Sango Reef, its black sails rolled up but the skull and crossbones flag dark against the sky. Captain Jack Skillow stood on deck, arms crossed, as the splashes around him said his crew was diving into the water. The Captain himself was part of the second wave of attack; he wasn’t willing to leave his ship until
he got reports from reef itself.
Jack Skillow
---

Outside of the Fishmonger’s, three huge figures had emerged. Black suits stark in the clear water, their very presence had managed to completely clear the reef around them. Not another soul dared to swim out today; everyone could smell blood in the water.
Trio
---

Officer Coppa, getting ready to suit up in scuba gear, stood on the beach behind an organized crowd of Misticans. All of them carried weapons and all were prepared to fight, though none knew exactly who or what they would be facing. Coppa lifted his megaphone to his mouth and shouted for the would-be warriors to dive in.

---

And so the pirates, the Misticans who called land their home and the few reef dwellers who had summoned the courage to take up arms all stormed Sango Reef. The Sea Witch muttered under her breath as the shouting crowds passed her shop, praying to Pandoria they would all be safe, that they would prevail against Monty. Hopefully, the reef would soon be safe again.

Tension so thick..
Posted: September 22, 2012

It was almost palpable.
Captain Jack Skillow was ready to join forces with Coppa and go after this "Monty."
Concerned citizens, all over Mistica gathered as Coppa and Captain Jack formulated a plan to launch an attack. Force Monty and his goons into a direct confrontation.

They almost didn't notice a figure rise from the water to survey the scene on the beach.

"Think you can take me? Think you can take my boys? I'd like to see you try!"

And with that, he sunk beneath the water, vanishing from sight.
The crowd murmured and glanced uneasily at each other. Wondering what tomorrow would bring.

Get ready for some action tomorrow Mistica. You definitely won't want to miss this!

~~~~~~~~~~
Before we close out the newspost we have a couple announcements.
First off, we'd like to welcome Stacy back to the art team! Let's give her a warm welcome back!
There also seems to be a new hatchi in the credit shop. Wonder what this little ball of Seaweed holds?
Empty Cargo
Posted: September 21, 2012
As Officer Coppa sifted through even more reports that morning, his mind was still half on the arrival of Captain Jack Skillow. The scruffy haruba had been briefed on the problems of Sango Reef, but Coppa wasn’t sure if he’d do anything about it. After all, what did a pirate care if crime went on well beneath his ship?
--------------------
Unfortunately, Officer Coppa had the right idea. Captain Jack was quite happy raking the MC in for his goods; the shopkeepers clamored for them every year, especially since so many of their customers considered his things collectibles. But when he sent a few of his crew to haul up more crates of items, they came back up empty handed.
“And what’s the meaning of this, your backs broken?” Jack snapped, frowning. He wouldn’t abide laziness on the Black Pyre!
The two mandorans shook their heads, looking confused. “Cap’n…there’s nothing down there,” one explained, “All our cargo’s been carried off!”
Jack Skillow
Captain Jack wavered on the spot for a moment, tapping thoughtfully on the bottle of rum in his paw. “Robbed, you say?” He asked, and the mandorans nodded. Well, there was nothing for it now; Captain Jack was certain he knew who’d made off with his goods. “Well, men…looks like we’re headed for that cursed reef.”
---------------
Meanwhile, the Collector had been busy. Monty had ordered him out of Daniel’s shop – for now – and given him a different task. All of the pirate-themed goods Captain Jack had sailed in seemed to be a huge hit with Misticans, who for some reason all loved the haruba. His influence on land was a little shaky, however, so Monty had decided to play this one a little nicer.
Collector
The Collector had decided to make Misticans search him out, but if they found him and came with the three items Monty wanted, he had a small prize to award them. Something to keep everyone complacent, really…
Can you search him out and find the items he's demanding?
The Fish Monger
Posted: September 20, 2012
Daniel had never felt such incredible relief as when he saw the back of the “Collector” exit his shop and disappear. The haruba let out a heavy sigh and leaned against the rocky wall, sparing a wary glance for the back of the building. No – he wouldn’t dwell on that! Monty had given him a second chance and he wasn’t going to waste it.
Daniel
It had been a long time since Daniel’s shelves had been stocked. He spent the majority of that night getting ready for the next day, cutting up fish filets, harvesting seaweed, coral and mussels, and of course putting everything together. By the time he saw the first weak rays of sunlight washing over the sandy ocean floor, he was exhausted, but finally ready.
An odd shadow passed over Sango Reef early that morning, something that many of the underwater Misticans noted. A few were brave enough to poke their heads above the surface and report back that it had been Captain Jack Skillow’s ship, and Daniel had been so excited he’d run out of his shop to try and get a glimpse of the legendary Black Pyre.
Few customers came in, but Daniel wasn’t surprised. His shop had been closed for so long he was surprised anyone remembered it existed.
(And more!)
It wasn’t until the next day that Misticans seemed to realize the Fishmonger’s shop was finally open, and he had people filling the seats around his shop and MC in the cash register. A few of the more observant customers asked why Daniel was constantly looking over his shoulder at the shop’s back room, but he assured them they were just imagining things, and changed the subject whenever someone asked how he’d come up with the money to open his doors again in the first place.
---
The Sea Witch noticed all the activity around the Fishmonger’s, of course. It made her uneasy, but what could she do? It was difficult enough keeping her own home and shop free of Monty and his greedy henchmen.
Apparently the infamous Captain Jack Skillow had been informed of her helping the Misticans on the surface, and so he’d gifted her with a couple new things to sell:
The Sea Witch wasn’t sure if she liked another vagrant wandering the sea, but at least this one had some manners.
Another shop is open at the Reef! Are your pets hungry?
Black Sails
Posted: September 19, 2012
Makoto had woken early that day, feeling oddly anxious. It was difficult to rattle a practiced entrepreneur such as himself, but the anya had looked at the calendar the night before and hadn’t liked what he saw. Lysithea and its broken pieces were still visible in a dark sky when Makoto went to sit outside his shop.
And then came what he’d feared: black sails, outlined by the slowly rising sun.
He cursed his shop’s location. Hiding near the Lighthouse had seemed brilliant at the time, but he was very close to Mistica Kingdom, and the prince and princess there adored Cap’n Jack. The haruba had been invited to their wedding, for Pandoria’s sake, and his gifts hadn’t disappointed. He’d been granted a safe dock there and rooms in the castle ever since.
A professional like Skillow wouldn’t miss Makoto’s new stock, or how high he’d priced them, and harubas were notorious for sneaking around. Officer Coppa was predictable; he followed the law to the letter, but Captain Jack Skillow? He was at once ruthless and a gentleman, somehow loved by all despite his shady dealings.
Makoto could only sit, puff overmuch on his pipe and hope the haruba left him alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soon, those black sails were taking up most of the view of anyone around the Lighthouse and Mistica Kingdom. A crowd of Misticans had already gathered around the dock to welcome Captain Jack and his crew to land, eager to hear stories and buy up the goods he brought every year.

The Captain strolled off the Black Pyre with his trademark swagger, grinning and bowing to all who greeted him.

“I didn’t expect such a fine welcome!” He declared, though anyone who knew him also knew he would’ve been disappointed with anything less. Behind him, crew members in various states of scruffiness were attempting to unload their goods to sell in the shops, so Captain Jack had to clear a path through the crowd to let them all through.

Just then, a uniformed yehxil wearing sunglasses broke through and approached the Captain, who eyed the officer a bit warily. But in a moment his grin was back in place and he gave Coppa a flourishing bow. “Ah, and to what do I owe the honor of being escorted by Officer Coppa himself?”

Officer Coppa had to bite his tongue and ignore the haruba’s obvious sarcasm. “It might surprise you to hear this, Captain, but I could use your help. There’s been talk of criminals in the reef, item shipments not going where they should…and to be honest, one smuggler could help root out another.”

Captain Jack laughed. “That’s nothin’ I expected to hear from you! But aye, we’ll see what I can do. I can’t be letting anyone con these good people, eh?”

“Of course not,” Officer Coppa replied stiffly, and he led the Captain away.

All the activity in the reef seems to have stirred up this new pet! Meet the Oceanic Panju!

A Little Light
Posted: September 17, 2012

The diving teams had long since emerged from the colorful waters of Sango Reef, which meant Officer Coppa had had an interesting last few days going through all of their reports. Besides the fact that most had awful handwriting, he picked up on a troubling fact.

Only one source of information had been found, an old oceanic zokuleon known as the Sea Witch. No other shopkeepers or citizens of the reef had been willing to talk at all, unless you counted the threats from several criminals.

So Officer Coppa decided to conduct an interview.

Suiting up with his own scuba set, he set out for Sango Reef that morning after putting a deputy in charge, leaving orders to have a team set up watching out for Makoto. It seemed entirely too coincidental that the anya had acquired his goods just as criminals were found to be taking over the reef.

The beach was windy, but Officer Coppa barely felt it through his suit. He strode right into the clear water, sand sucking at his flippers, and then felt it dip as he got further out. When the waves were breaking over his head the yehxil dove under, suddenly surrounded by a world of color and dappled, moving light.

But it was, as the reports had said, silent. Beautiful but obviously in trouble. He swam past red coral shaped like a dancer’s fan and schools of little fish that broke apart at the sight of him. Finally, Coppa spotted the cavern where the Sea Witch was said to live, and in moments he was engulfed by shadows.

She spotted him immediately, though not necessarily with her eyes. “You’re the one they all report to, yes? It was risky of you to come down here. Monty won’t be happy.”

Coppa had to speak around the mouthpiece connected to his oxygen tank, but luckily it had some odd device that made it possible for the Sea Witch to understand him underwater. “Who’s Monty?” He asked, direct as always.

“Oh, he’s the one causing all this trouble. The criminals holding up the shops right now work for him.”

“And they’re demanding more protection money?”

The Sea Witch nodded, seaweed fluttering around her dark face. “Yes, more than anyone could hope to pay. I hear he’s taking their goods and attempting to import them to the surface for better money, and who’s going to stop him?” She cackled then. “You’ve never met the likes of Monty.”

Well, Officer Coppa at least now knew where Makoto was getting his items from. This Monty character was ambitious, going outside of his territory. Coppa bid the Sea Witch goodbye, not liking the cynical grin on her face as he left.

Who is this Monty? Judging by his henchmen, he must be pretty tough and scary!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Makoto has a few more suspicious items in his shop. Fancy some fine seafood? Perhaps we shouldn't give him any business though, if these are stolen goods. And the prices are OUTRAGEOUS!
Sango Reef
Posted: September 15, 2012
Finally, the day had come. Armed with scuba sets and the blessings of King Blithe (and hopefully Pandoria as well), Misticans from the Inferno Terrain  to Banshee Swamp were gathered along the sandy beach of Sango Reef. The crowd was so enormous that some were standing under the leaves of Raziela, and SPNHM had actually posted guards around the preserve to keep too-curious Misticans out.
Selich was absent, something that a few had begun whispering about. Why wasn’t the bold young Risylki out here, to see everyone off, at least? Shouldn’t he be one of the first into the water? Still others shook their heads, saying that it was far too dangerous; whoever was causing trouble down in the reef would surely want Selich silenced.
Officer Coppa stood on a small rise near the front of the crowd so he stood a little taller than everyone else, keeping an eye out for any troublemakers. He’d assigned several deputies to investigate Makoto’s suspicious new items and why they were priced so outrageously to oversee the beginning of this expedition.
“Everyone will dive in teams!” He announced, voice booming through his megaphone, “Team One, ready!”
Visible tension swept through the front line of the beach as those who had arrived first adjusted their masks and double checked oxygen tanks. When they had all given the thumbs up, Officer Coppa shouted again:
“Dive!”
Great splashes of warm ocean water splattered those waiting behind as Team One all waded into the shallows and quickly disappeared beneath the surface. Officer Coppa motioned Team Two forward.
Team One had spread out by now, exploring, all nervous about what they might find. It was eerily quiet; no Oceanic pets played amongst the colorful coral and the few underwater dwellers they did see moved quickly, heads down, towards their destination. The divers got a myriad of odd looks, some confused and some threatening – the latter mostly when they tried to enter any shops. Big, well dressed characters eyed them sharply and told them all to get out or else.
Soon, Team Two had gone under, followed by Team Three and the rest. So many had crowded Sango Reef’s shores that it took almost the entire day for Officer Coppa to get everyone in, and by then Team One had emerged with reports about what they’d found. Only an odd Sea Witch would speak to them, they said, and she had some troubling things to say…
Riding the wild winds!
Posted: September 14, 2012
Right off the coastline to Mistica Kingdom, a storm began to brew earlier this afternoon. The waves were crashing, and the skies were lit by brillliant lightning. Curiously, there seemed to be something flying on the wild winds that the storm produced....
 Storm PhelocanIntroducing the Storm Phelocan!
Seems like he's flown in, just in time to aid us in our Sango Reef quest! Maybe he can give Maury some directional help in his deliveries?
Flippers and Claws
Posted: September 13, 2012
Selich had been emboldened to hear about how the Misticans had rallied to his cause. Maury had been in a frenzy, dropping the needed scuba items all over the world to make sure as many as possible were able to help. This resulted in a few head injuries, but it was generally thought to be worth it.
Once again Selich found himself in front of cameras, out on that same balcony, offering encouragement. Some Misticans hadn’t yet been able to complete their Scuba Set.
“You still have time!” He told them, “The reef is stable, for now, and Maury continues to deliver the bits and pieces you need. Don’t forget to bring all four items to King Blithe once you have them!”
---
Makoto had been enjoying his exorbitant prices and new items. Really, he didn’t feel bad charging so much; you couldn’t get such exotic things anywhere else! Unfortunately, Officer Coppa had been suspecting double dealing from the start. The officer had a special grudge against Makoto ever since he’d started Illicit Gains and Coppa had been so far unable to locate and shut it down.
Despite this, Makoto boasted a couple of new items for sale, all…appropriately priced, of course.
These prices are OUTRAGEOUS! No sane person would pay them. Looks like Makoto has an in with those causing trouble on the reef. Sneaky anya...
Learning More...
Posted: September 10, 2012
Selich had a temporary room in one of the upper floors of King Blithe’s castle. Two big, armed Lirionox guards stood out front and he wasn’t allowed out anymore without them escorting him. It was for the best, really; Monty had to know that he’d talked by now. Every news channel in Mistica had broadcasted Selich’s little speech.
And then the interviews! Just thinking of the questions made Selich’s head ache. It had made him feel like they all doubted him, the way they’d asked, demanding to know how he even knew of the reef when his kind were only found in the Blizzard’s Realm. Then he’d had to explain all about his pod, and the vacations – this had been his first – and how the storyteller had brought back tales of coral and fish bright as the sunrise…
Selich sighed and settled down on the low, circular bed King Blithe had had made for him. He hoped he would be able to see the reef again, and bring back tales of rescuing its citizens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While Selich tried to sleep away his worries and his headache, Dr. Erlenmeyer had traversed Mistica and braved the snow to set a camp up along the southern coast of the Blizzard’s Realm. Dr. Kirsch was with her as well, currently in their huge white tent, making notes and various calculations. The girl wasn’t much for field work but her mind worked brilliantly when paper was involved.

After talking to several Risylkis and surveying them, Dr. Erlenmeyer had handed her protégée a notebook full of scribbles and a few doodles. Dr. Kirsch had just finished up compiling them into a coherent collection of facts on the new species, something both doctors thought Misticans would want, if they were to take any Risyklis home with them.

Risylki facts are now posted in Mistic Chat so you can learn all about this new species! Remember to keep clicking on Random Events; you have all week to collect diving equipment!

Introducing: Risylki!
Posted: September 9, 2012

King Blithe had learned of Maury’s failure, but to the phelocan’s credit, he had corrected the situation. It was later than the king wanted, but all the same, it seemed like Mistica had gotten his cry for help. The stranger had been quiet so far, loathe to even reveal his name for fear the sharks would be after him, but now King Blithe felt it was time to tell Mistica everything. A simple note hadn’t told them much, after all.

The stranger was now standing on one of King Blithe’s lower balconies, the better to be seen by the gaggle of reporters and onlookers below. He had a small microphone over his smooth head and his tail slapped the pale stone, a nervous habit. Mistica Action News was there, of course, along with a few smaller channels, all their cameras pointed right at the stranger. He cleared his throat, and surprisingly, silence fell over the small, snow-covered crowd.

“My name is Selich,” he declared, trying to keep his voice steady, “and the Blizzard’s Realm is my home.”

A reporter cut in: “Just what are you?” She demanded bluntly.

Selich blinked. “Um…well, they call my species Risylki,” he answered, “but that’s not really important! I recently swam to Sango Reef, you know, for a vacation, and…it’s horrible. Crime has taken over the whole place! Shops are closing because they can’t afford protection money, so no one can buy food or proper clothes because prices are insane. It’s not safe to go out after dark. They need help!”

Silence fell for a few moments, broken only by the click of cameras taking photos. Then one of the reporters from M.A.N spoke up, “Kim Kratork here,” she announced briskly, “and I have a question. Just how are we supposed to help, or even get down into Sango Reef? Not all of us have fins!”

Selich nodded. “You just need a few items. A suit, tank, flippers and mask…and King Blithe will put it all together for you. It’s how you get to the reef. Stay in the shallows, and you’ll be safe…well, for now,” he added. It wouldn’t be long before Monty and his henchmen realized what was going on. “And, um, that’s it really. It’s a beautiful place; we can’t let Sango Reef fall to those predators!”

A burst of applause followed Selich’s last words and he felt himself smile a little. Maybe he’d done some good here. Not everyone would act, but at least they’d listened.

That's right Mistica, looks like there's danger afoot in the waters of Mistica, and a new species to boot! Which Risylki will be your newest pet?

They are also available in Infested and Plagued!

Torn
Posted: September 8, 2012

Maury was perched precariously on the edge of the enormous window looking into one of King Blithe’s tower rooms. He was a bit nervous being up so high, although he supposed the soft snow below was some comfort. Then he realized how silly he looked, a bird of all creatures, afraid of heights!

The phelocan puffed out his chest as the king approached him with a piece of parchment, rolled up. Maury could just see the edge of the king’s signature, a print of his paw.

“Be careful this gets where it needs to,” King Blithe said firmly, well aware of Maury’s awful track record. But who else could he ask? No one on foot was fast enough and no one else with wings was willing. The stranger and his problems were unknown, nothing Misticans were yet concerned about. “Everyone needs to know, you hear?”

Maury bobbed his head eagerly. “Yes, Your Majesty! I’ll see that that every Mistican gets a copy!”

King Blithe was apprehensive as he tied the cry for help around Maury’s skinny leg, but didn’t voice any of his concerns. It would just upset the poor phelocan and maybe make him do a worse job than usual. Maury turned on the window sill, took off, and was soon lost to the icy horizon.

Maury wasn’t sure how, but when he finally arrived back at his post office…well, he had only a bit of a corner of paper to show for his efforts. The rest of the note, he figured, had been torn. Maybe that tree he’d hit had torn it from his leg, and that nasty gargoyle had given him a bit of trouble too…

With just a vague idea of where the pieces could be, Maury composed his own message:

HELP!
An important note from King Blithe has been lost. Look for my clues; they’re all I have, because, well, I’m not too sure where they all are. But we need to find all five pieces!

There. Hopefully, Mistica could put the pieces together – literally – before King Blithe came around and found out what had happened.

Keep an eye out for alerts! Clues will appear to direct you where to go to find the scraps of paper! You only need one set of five, and each paper will show up more than once to account for time zones and playing time.  Enjoy the hunt!
Once you have each piece, you won't be able to claim another of that #. Each member will be able to collect one set of scraps.

The Stranger
Posted: September 7, 2012

“…and we just can’t afford it anymore! All the shops are beginning to close…they’re taking over. I thought you could help.” The desperate voice trailed off, as if the stranger speaking felt a moment of shame. Was it silly to go to such lengths to fix problems so very far away?

But the jolly king just laughed. “We’ve fought off stars and demi-gods, son…these villains shouldn’t be much more trouble!” King Blithe rose from his throne, motioning to the stranger and the two palace guards who’d brought him in.

The stranger spoke again. “Well, maybe Pandoria—“
“No,” King Blithe cut him off, shaking his great furry head, “the goddess only interferes if the whole of the world is threatened. Our problems are our own to fix.”

The stranger nodded with a sigh. He followed King Blithe down the length of the grand throne room, through a huge pair of double doors, all intricate carvings and sparkling with sapphires and emeralds, up winding staircases and finally to the top of one of the castle’s many towers. It was a small, round room; a den of some sort, with a spectacular view of the snowy landscape outside through a window as big as the king. King Blithe sat at a desk and began to write, his large paws making for an untidy scrawl.

“We can’t do it by ourselves, of course,” he said, to answer the bewildered look on the stranger’s face.

Meanwhile, under a hot summer sun, Makoto lounged around his shop as the salty sea air ruffled his fur. He was grinning, a new box of merchandise clutched tight in his paws while a ring of smoke followed him to one of his shelves. He set the box down, opened it and began setting up his new treasures, with price tags to match, of course. No one else could have gotten their hands on these sorts of things; he’d make a fortune!

Where did these items come from? Only someone crazy would pay those prices! I bet the price will come down at some point...maybe Coppa should investigate?
