Well, the day had come, and yet Blithe still wasn’t feeling his usual holiday cheer. In fact, he wasn’t feeling very cheery at all, as unsurprisingly spending too much time in the snow before had done nothing to lift his mood, and despite his thick fur, warming up had taken the rest of his Mistmas Eve, so he hadn’t even been able to spend much time with his friends.

Which he had thought he could change today, of course, in the spirit or not he could at least enjoy the time they had together, and yet he hadn’t seen either of them the entire morning.

Actually, now that he thought about it, he couldn’t recall seeing anyone at all this morning. Guess they’re all out celebrating without me, he thought, his mood dropping further. A real shame, his mind continued as he entered his darkened throne room, fumbling for the lights, since today was not only Mistmas but also his-


“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” The lights were on, and Blithe and his thoughts stopped in their tracks as he took in the now bright and very crowded throne room. He couldn’t stop himself from breaking out into a huge grin, turning into a boisterous and characteristic jolly laugh, as cheer, both holiday and otherwise, finally found its way into his heart for the season.

After sweeping MeriKlaus and Aurelius into a big inarbu hug, Blithe followed his friends around the room, greeting and chatting with all of the guests, who had come from all over Mistica. Even Pandoria had showed up to wish the good king well on his birthday!


Just before the birthday cake was served, the Yuletide Spirit joined the festivities and led the partygoers in serenading King Blithe.


Despite the cold outside, the throne room was warmed by the love and happiness surrounding King Blithe on his day. As the party simmered down eventually, so did the Mistmas season, ending happily with good cheer all around.

Twas Mistmas Morn and throughout all the lands,
Jubilation and cheer spread from mountains to sands.
Yet up in Blizzard’s Realm where joy should be heightened,
Good King Blithe was not happy, his friends confused and frightened.

Without the King’s cheer would the whole season be shamed?
Perhaps Maury’s muddled gift exchange could be blamed?
Nay, this wasn’t a sadness that honest mistakes could have caused,
Oh, if only the Mistmas merriment could be paused!

MeriKlaus fretted and Aurelius thought,
Was the state of his mood something Boreal’s doings had wrought?
But no, not that either, this season she’d been lax,
Unless she had been careful to cover her tracks.

The reason for the ruler’s despair remained hidden,
And they had agreed that asking his reason was forbidden.
So they hemmed and they hawed, puzzled and pondered,
Over many possible reasons their good minds had wandered.

Until finally, like a bolt from the blue revelation did strike,
Friends scrambled and planned something surely Blithe’d like.
A major event, a mood changing whiplash,
The way to fix Blithe’s mood would be a huge birthday bash!

Merry Mistmas Mistica! May the year ahead bring many good things to our community as we reach some big milestones. Thank you all for being a part of this amazing world of Mistica.

Cheer and goodwill swirled in the atmosphere around, matching the blizzard outside, but King Blithe’s dreary mood sheltered him like a particularly ugly, drab sweater. You know, the colourless blobs of amorphous, drowning fabric at the bottom of the bargain bin, not tacky enough for Mistmas yet not attractive or comfortable enough for daily wear. No matter how much he tried the spirit of the season, the joy and excitement that seemingly swallowed up everyone else, refused to come anywhere near him. He sighed, and shifted uncomfortably in his throne before hefting himself up to walk outside.

Maybe if he buried himself in a snowdrift he’d start to feel something. Or at least make a decent snow-man.

As the king headed out of the throne room, not even the sight of MeriKlaus and Aurelius coming towards him was enough to unslump his sadness. In fact, it wasn’t even clear if he noticed them, no nod or word of acknowledgement made to either as he brushed past. But Blithe’s friends certainly noticed him.

“Well that was-”

“Unexpected.” Aurelius offered.

“Troublesome.” MeriKlaus quipped.

“-And very much unlike Blithe.” They agreed in unison.

They stared down at the confusing gifts in their hands (MeriKlaus’s in a very secure encasement), and silently, maybe telepathically, agreed that solving the gifting riddle would definitely have to play second fiddle to figuring out what had happened to their usually merry companion. After all, this was usually his favourite time of year, it would be unfair to have him miss out on an entire celebration.

But why was he so out of it?

“Do you think he knows about the present mishaps? Maybe he left because he doesn’t know what to do about it?” MeriKlaus thought aloud, but honestly, running away from his problems was not the King’s usual modus operandi.

“Has Boreal been up to her usual antics this year?” Aurelius offered in earnest, but MeriKlaus merely shook her head. She reached a hand to stroke the growling hat in thought, then quickly pulled it away as it snapped at the now empty space where her hand had been.

The sound of the snapping jaws almost seemed to snap a switch on in her mind.

“Well, I’m not entirely sure why he’s so down this year,” she began, swirling magic around the growling hat, casting an overlaid image of party-like polka dots over its red fur. “But I think I could know the reason.”

MeriKlaus beckoned for Aurelius to lean over, and she quickly whispered something in his ear. Immediately his eyes widened and he straightened up incredulously. “You’re right, how could we have forgotten?”

“Don’t fret, we remembered, and that is what’s important. Now, we just need to figure out how to fix it, hmm?”

Aurelius nodded in agreement, and the two ducked their heads back together conspiratorially, plotting the perfect pick-me-up for their dear, blue Blithe.

A hesitant knock echoed throughout Boreal’s palace, a pair of Kohals huddling against the ground as they held onto a package that had been left on the steps outside. Silence met their ears, but they knew better than to knock again. A few minutes passed before the sound of footsteps graced the halls. The doors opened, revealing the fallen star.



“What?” Her voice was low and tense, eyes narrowed down at the quivering kohals, who simply presented her with the gift they had found. Boreal’s hands tightened on the door, remembering the last gift she had received. Did they believe she would tolerate these gifts? Her anger was momentarily paused when she noticed that there were quite a few feathers that had gotten caught in the bow.

With a snarl on her lips, Boreal grabbed the present and slammed the door in the kohals’ faces before she went to the lit fire, prepared to throw it in before she noticed how light the package was. There was a light scent coming from the box as well, pleasant, although she would never admit it. Boreal unwrapped the present after looking back and forth between it and the fireplace.

A bath bomb… She had been given a bath bomb… What was worse was the aura that radiated from them; it looked just like Aurelius.

The star known as Aurelius slowly began to descend from the sky, only to meet an unusual welcome party other than the normal group of Misticans. Circling wide around him was the messenger bird Maury, carrying a bag that had seen better days. Although Maury seemed to be in a hurry, he had the decency to let the star finish his descent before rushing ahead of the crowd to land before him.

“Maury?” Aurelius’ eyes were alight with joy and curiosity. The star was always happy to see the inhabitants of Mistica, but something about the excitement and pride in Maury’s eyes was intriguing. With no time at all to ask what was the matter, Maury dug through his sack and held out an icy looking present.

“Um, sorry about the ice, must have happened when I flew into a snowman.” Maury apologized sheepishly. Aurelius simply smiled and thanked him as he flew away. The present, although frigid looking, looked beautifully wrapped and he couldn’t think of what lay inside of it.

Delicately untangling the wrapping, he lifted a curling iron that seemed to produce an aura that had apparently frozen the box it was wrapped in. Humming in thought, Aurelius turned it over in his hands before he ran one of his hands through his hair.
 

It was always surprising to see a present waiting for MeriKlaus instead of her being the one delivering the presents herself. The only telltale sign of who had left it was a few stray feathers and a slightly unhinged window panel. MeriKlaus chuckled, that Maury… Stepping closer to the box, she could hear something rustling around in it.

Wait, rustling?

Carefully, seeing as whatever was in there seemed alive, she undid the ribbon and unwrapped the gift. There was a small cardboard box that began to shake. No sooner had she opened it did something shoot out of the box and fall off the table, a chorus of strange sounds echoing from where it had landed.

There on the ground was a Mistmas hat, dirty in appearance. It also seemed to be moving around - something was inside of it! MeriKlaus’ eyebrows furrowed as a claw reached out, searching for something to eat.

“Such a strange gift, Maury…”

A strange but intriguing smell greeted Maury as he landed next to Clayton’s shop. As he followed the scent, he narrowly dodged walking into Clayton as he put his newest creation on the counter. It was something that resembled a cake with odd eyeballs sticking out of the icing… Icing that looked to be like slimy moss.

“Ah Maury, looking to have a slice?” Maury’s feathers nearly turned green at the mention of the food. In an attempt to hide both the gulp of nervousness and the temptation to step backwards, he quickly held out Clayton’s small gift.

“Maybe next time Clayton. I still have gifts to deliver!” With that, and before Clayton could insist on taking a slice to go, Maury all but hightailed it out of the shop. The haruba blinked at the abrupt departure when a spicy odor reached his nostrils. Tugging at the wrapping paper, the item within brought tears to his eyes.

These weren’t normal tears. It was a bottle of fancy cologne, and the smell was burning not only his eyes, but his poor nose.

“This is too hot for my tastes.” Clayton murmured, placing it on the counter and prodding it with one claw.

Doesn't look like Maury is delivering the right presents to everyone... Oh dear!

The present went unnoticed for a while in Ansidoria’s  part of the castle. It was discovered by a few Jinxs, curious on what item was in front of them. Before they could began nosing it to see what was inside, a pair of footsteps made them scatter.

Ansidoria rounded the corner, halting when she spied something that was quite out of the ordinary in her palace. A brightly colored box lay on the ground. Onlynow did it dawn on her what holiday it must be. With no one around, holidays could come and go and she would never even notice.

“A present?...” Ansidoria’s eyes narrowed as she sensed the remnants of her sister’s magic coiled around the gift. Why would her sister open up a portal back here, much less to bring the box here? To even attempt such a thing would require enormous effort due to her barrier. These thoughts ran rampant in her head as she picked it up, turning it this way and that.

What it held inside was not something she wanted to receive.

A scream of rage echoed through the halls, the sound of marble being tossed onto the ground. The bitterness of long ago still had its icy hold over her heart. The group of Jinxs who had hidden to watch her fled as she stared down at the broken bust.

Out of the vast expanse of nightfall comes a brightly lit shooting star!

While gazing at this beautiful nighttime wonder, Misticans all over this world are filled with a happy contentment that they are here to witness such beauty. Many began to speculate when Aurelius would touch down this year!

Maury made a rather unimpressive landing outside Pandoria’s shop, nearly careening straight into a few Mistical eggs. The Goddess was quick to whisk said eggs out of harm’s way as the bird struggled to right himself, his sack safe on his back.

“Are you alright Maury?” Pandoria knelt down to check him over for any injuries when the Phelocan leaped to his feet, reaching behind him to pull out a neatly wrapped present.

“Delivery for Pandoria!” With a confident smile, Maury handed the present to Pandoria before he suddenly looked a bit sheepish.

“This may sound strange asking, but… Could I possibly ask for assistance for getting a gift to your sister?” Pandoria was silent, staring down at the gift in her hand for several seconds before she turned away. With a wave of her hand a small portal was created. Quickly, before he could change his mind, Maury pushed the next gift in his bag through and took off.

A gift for her sister? Pandoria thought it was strange for Blithe to think of sending a gift to her, yet as the wrapping was torn from what it concealed, she found herself at a loss for words. In her hands was a perfectly carved marble bust of her sister.

“Ansidoria.” she whispered as she sat down.

The bookstore was full of patrons shopping for all the little bookwyrms in their life and the designated reading corner was packed to the brim with people reading their choices before they bought them. Much of the store was illuminated by brightly colored pommekin lights. It seemed that Jasper's Mistmas décor from a few years back was really getting its use in here. Maury looked through the crowds until he spotted who he was looking for.

“Lissa!” Maury said a little too loudly for her liking.

“Shh!” Lissa hastily replied. “People are trying to read!”

“Sorry,” he apologized a little quieter this time. “I have a package for you.”

“For me? Oh, you shouldn't have!” she blushed.

After handing over the package, Maury gave a salute with one wing and then turned to be on his way. Lissa unwrapped the package and found a pair of oddly themed candles that didn't really seem to match anything in her shop.

“Uh...I mean really, you shouldn't have,” she said to no one in particular as she stared at the confusing gift.

Lycoris looked up from a very interesting book when she heard a light rapping on the window. “Now who could that be?” she asked. She pulled the curtain back and unlocked the window. It creaked with age as she pulled it open and cool air blew in from the outside.

Maury's wings flapped to keep himself in place outside. With the window open, he finally had a ledge to stand on and perched on the edge of the window. “Package for you and Adam!” he said with a chipper tune.

“Oh, thank you Maury!” Lycoris replied with a smile.

“Glad to be of service!” he nodded, his wings flapping as he leapt backwards out the window and flew back into the sky to deliver more packages.

“Adam, Blithe sent us a gift!” Lycoris called to the sprite.

“A gift? For us? Hardly anyone ever sends me gifts,” he replied, clearly quite touched by the gesture.

They both unwrapped it together and smiles turned to confusion and then to horror. Lycoris held up a brightly colored, infant sized onsie from the stack of baby clothes. “Uh...what exactly is Blithe trying to tell us?” she asked.

The upbeat club music that normally played at Flashy Fashions was replaced by jazzy Mistmas music for the holiday. Maury sauntered in the front door like a normal customer and spotted the gorgeously maned cheran putting out some new fashions for the season.

“Ah! Maury!” Lance said. “Shopping for a new hat? I have some that would match your feathers right over here!”

As tempting as the idea of shopping sounded right now, Maury had a job to do. “Maybe after work, Lance. I'm here on business.” He placed the package in Lance's hands and turned to leave. “Put that hat on layaway!”

Lance set the gift on the counter and quickly unwrapped it before standing back and admiring it in confusion. “Well...maybe it would look nice on the other side of the counter?” he said as he cocked his head at the perfectly pruned WinterGreen Bonsai Tree.


~Mistic Team 

 

Maury was especially cautious on his next delivery. Diving and swooping through the thickest branches of the darkest part of the forest, he finally landed amidst imp territory. Several nightmares and other nasty creatures surrounded him, some curious, some looking frighteningly hungry.

“What do you want?” an imp guard asked.

Maury gulped when a nasty looking three headed lirionox drooled on his feathers. “Delivery for King Mephitic!” He handed the imp the package before quickly hightailing it out of there.

Mephitic wasn't too thrilled to be disturbed, but once he realized that there was a free gift involved, he seemed slightly less surly. “Wait...what is this?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. Holding the gift up to the candlelight, Mephitic could clearly read the words “The Big Book of Sunshine” on the spine of the book. “Someone stop that bird!” he shouted to a guard.

“Too late. I think he's halfway to Bamboo Beach by now, sire,” the guard replied.

The food has ceased being launched all over the land as first Erika admitted defeat, and then Clayton took a bow as well. Each side nursed their rivalry, for though the food fight has stopped, they were making plans...

Gordon reigned supreme. The Darkwood Dandies had shown how it was done, and they had done it while maintaining their dignity and adding such an elegant flair to their culinary creations and ammunition.

Of the two gifts that he had grabbed in his mad dash out of his store, it seemed like Sunny was the closest to deliver. Relief spread through Maury as he soared through the air, closing in on the Health Foods store. Thank goodness for that!

He spotted the overgrown cheran carrying in a large box full of fresh organic food into her shop. It looked like he had arrived just in time! The phelocan landed and rushed up to the shop as fast as could without the presents in the bag trying to trip him.

“Sunny! Delivery for Sunny!”

Sunny stopped and turned around as her name was called, noticing the almost out of breath Maury stumble into her shop. The box was barely set down when a present replaced it. With a nod of thanks for the gift, she carefully unwrapped it. Her eyes grew large before jumping at the sight of what was in the package, almost dropping the object in her hands. It was a creepy book of untold Mistmas horror stories.

“Maury! This isn’t -” Sunny stopped short as she looked up, only to grumble when she didn’t see the bird anywhere. Just where did he go and what was she supposed to do with this creepy book? An uneasy feeling fell over her as she stood there in her shop, her gaze returning to the book in her hands, unsure of what to do now. She didn’t like creepy things...

After getting turned around more than a few times, Maury finally arrived at the palace of Joel and Alana with the other gift he had brought with him. Thankfully, the two were outside in the vast gardens, strolling down a neatly paved path with their newborn baby, Adair. That meant he didn’t have to search around like he had been planning to do.
“Prince Joel! Princess Alana! Special… delivery.” Maury announced, trying to catch his breath as he landed on the path and dug around his delivery bag for the package. The pair turned around at the sound of their names, then smiled and walked over to him. Pulling it out, he handed it to Joel.

“Thank you Maury.” The prince said before carefully opening the present. The smiles immediately faded from their lips, a horrified look quickly replacing them. Joel was quick to drop the box, as if the box itself burned him. Inside the box was a gleaming artifact, a claw meant for an imp’s hand. The sight of it was enough to make baby Adair start to cry.

“Maury!” Alana gasped, turning to look at the delivery bird, but the said phelocan was nowhere to be found.

“What is going on?” Joel asked to no one in particular as his wife tried desperately to hush the crying child. After all the imps put Alana through in the past, why would a imp artifact be delivered here?

That isn't all Mistica! We have a new way of gifting this year to take the place of secret Santa. This one is a little more straight forward. Click above to visit!

You give a gift to the grounds, you may pick up a gift!
Each gift has a minimum of 5,000 MC attached.

You can include Items, MC, Transferable MP and even notes and messages with plain text or HTML!  It is your choice to attach your name in the text area, or leave it anonymous!

When you pick up from the snowy field, you will click a present that is shown on the image to claim it. This is not a flash feature! It should work for everyone. 

Once you gather a present from the field, you will not be able to open until Mistmas morning.  Happy Gifting Mistica!

Please note that while gifting is anonymous, staff are able to track all items and messages sent. Please keep the spirit of the season in mind if you choose to participate in the gifting field!

The beginning of December finally arrived and as expected, Maury was kept busy in his shop as packages started to arrive to be delivered to other parts of Mistica. His little shop had been overrun by presents, but were soon neatly sorted into piles on where they were being delivered to. Even then, the free space within the shop was diminishing rather quickly.

Once the shop seemed to quiet down for the moment, Maury was quick to take that opportunity and slipped into a side door, where a neat pile of packages, both big and small, were arranged in the middle of the floor. On the table beside the door was a group of delivery bags for the said presents and on the floor was a mess of wrapping paper tubes, unused gift tags and strings of discarded ribbon.

  

Maury almost pranced in with excitement at that thought of hand delivering these presents to certain people. Well, some of them he was excited to be giving the presents to, others… not so much. Unfortunately, he was a bit too eager. Just as the phelocan went to pick up the first present, his left foot got tangled up in some nearby ribbon. His other had stepped on another portion of the same string, pulling it taut, causing him to careen forward – straight into the stack of presents. The force of the impact caused the some of them to go flying in different directions, while one prevented his face from meeting the floor. The one gift he had been holding flew up into the air only to land right on top of his head, momentarily stunning him.

The sudden impact knocked the breath right out of the poor delivery bird. Blinking as he struggled to regain his breath, Maury allowed his eyes to wander around his surroundings. The gifts were everywhere, but something seemed off when he peered closer at the nearest present. Wait, something was missing? Just what was –



“Oh no.” Maury managed to whisper in horror, staring at the scattered gift tags around him, then back looked at the presents. Oh this was not good! Time was running out before he needed to get them packed up and off for delivery! This was the last thing that he had wanted to happen. At least none of the presents were damaged. Right? He did pack all of them in sturdy boxes.

Getting flustered, Maury was quick to scramble to his feet and gathered all the gift tags, being careful not to get tangled up in the ribbon again. A quick glance at the clock caused him to go into a panic. He was going to be late! He started to slap the gift tags on each package, as he couldn’t remember which tag went with which package and it was far too late to try and remember. Maybe he should color coded the tags and the gift wrap next time? Once the tags were on all the packages, Maury grabbed the two nearest ones, shoved them into a delivery bag and rushed out of the room.

We are pleased to release the Graces for each corresponding Blessing that has been released. Also, we are all very grateful for your patience and input during the transition, and we are thankful for some fantastic suggestions from our community on how to proceed.

ONE WEEK EXCHANGE
(Offer ends Friday, Dec 11th)
To facilitated this change, every member that owns a past Blessed Pet may request to have a Grace in exchange if they would like. 
If you chose to approach Pandoria for a Grace, your Blessed pet would be transformed into an Arctic Gourix, and a corresponding Grace will be provided to you. 

Please mail Pandoria with the name of the pet, and request your Grace, if you choose. 

We know this is a big choice for everyone. Please consider your options carefully. Once you have the Grace, how it is used, or on which pet, is up to you!

Moving forward, this offer will not be repeated, as we will proceed as outlined with some concessions for adjustments of course. 

You are exchanging a Blessed Pet for that same Blessing in Grace/item form.

The air was brisk and the wind sent flurries of snowflakes swirling through the air as Pandoria made her way through Blizzard's Realm. In the midst of her travels, the Guardian of Mistica happened upon a young Haruba, playing in the snow drifts and it was evident that the feline was enjoying the winter season!

Filled with merriment, the haruba bounded closer to Pandoria, though she kept a respectful distance. "Isn't the snow wonderful Pandoria? This is my favorite season of the year, and I wish I could play in the snow forever!"

With a kind smile, Pandoria's eyes gleamed with power and she advanced to kneel beside the little Haruba. She withdrew a crystalline orb and held it out and urged the Haruba to accept it. 

"Take this Grace little one, it will bestow a special Blessing upon you, and your outward appearance will reflect your true and joyful self all the year round!"

As the Haruba accepted the Grace in the shape of a delicate orb, she marveled at the beauty of Pandoria's handiwork. It dissolved in her paw, and she felt warm all over, despite the winter chill in the air.


She looked down at her paw, a new scarf draped upon her body and she bounced in the air, full of both joy and awe.

"Thank you Pandoria, ever so much!" she squeaked.

"You are very welcome dear one, may your form serve you true. Merry Mistmas!"

 Pandoria's wanderings brought her to the mountaintops of Blizzard's Realm, and she once again encountered a denizen of Mistica, though this Ahbruis was not filled with the same sort of cheerfulness of the little Haruba. 

Pandoria stopped and regarded the solemn and peaceful canine.
"What brings you to the peaks of Blizzard's Realm on this night?" She asked.

"The heavens of Mistica call out to me, Pandoria. I wish to soar amongst the clouds and spread peace throughout the world, that the joy of Mistmas be with us all." the Ahbruis replied, and the truth of his words rang with longing.

"My dear one, I am glad that I wandered this far to meet you this evening. Your wish shall be granted." And she held out her hand, revealing another Grace.

"May this form serve you true, and all the beloved citizens of this land."

The Ahbruis closed his eyes and held the Grace close to his heart...


...and opened them to start his new life, in his form as a Seraph.

Introducing the companion item to the Blessed Pets, the Grace!
 
Once you have made your purchase of MP, in any increment of $50. You will be eligible for the gift of a Grace of your choice. Purchase $100 in MP, you are eligible for 2 Graces. You would still mail Pandoria onsite.

These items will work as other pet items onsite work. When utilized upon a pet, the orb will vanish and the pet will assume its blessed form.  The Graces will always match the pet, but also the description will include the month and year of release for easy reference within the news archives. 

There are some changes to the system, moving forward. More will be outlined in January, however the FAQ on the helpsite has been updated. More may be added as we clarify and encounter any additional questions.

This December, it has been discussed and decided that for the Mistmas holidays, we will not limit blessings for December. So that the joy of the season will not be dimmed for anyone, no matter how late or early they are able to obtain a blessing.

This month, there will be FIVE of each Grace available in Monty's Jade Emporium once it opens*. These will be available for 25 million MC.
The release of the shop will not be shared with anyone prior to the newspost in order to be fair to everyone who will be searching for the Grace items. 


The Raffle has been updated with the following message:

It is a new month, and we would like to highlight a change to the weekly raffle.
Members may only win first place once a month. 
If you continue to purchase tickets you acknowledge that your chances are decreased significantly.

Please take note of the change, we hope that it will maintain the fun of the raffle and spread some of the excitement and cheer.
