Introduction
"Heh, heh, look at the new ORPHAN!"
"Hey, where are YOUR parents at?"
"Who's gonna adopt YOU, looking like THAT?!"
Lydian was surrounded by a number of snickering faces the second the orphanage mistress had left, once she'd shown her into her new room. She was covered in mud from head to toe, and looked...rather pitiful. How else was she to look, after falling unconscious into a puddle of mud upon hearing that her parents had been hunted down by some predators and lost the fight? She was taken to the hospital to check for any injuries, and the next thing she knew she'd landed on the doorstep of Ms. Hollie's Orphanage. Apparently, the orphans here didn't like welcoming newbies into the home. As they stood around her cruelly asking questions, Lydian looked around the "bedroom" she was expected to stay in. It was rather small for ten growing Misticpets, the walls were a dull grayish color, and there wasn't a single toy in sight.
"Hey, does this Cheran even talk?" another girl asked. Lydian, becoming more and more intimidated by these creatures, felt her eyes well up with tears as she slowly attempted to exit the room. She needed a bath, and to get away from the seemingly-heartless orphans.

That night, Lydian lay on her bed, unable to fall asleep. She could still hear some Misticpets on the other side of the room whispering back and forth to one another, occassionally letting out another snicker or two. They were talking about her, she knew it. What had she even done wrong? Why did she deserve such cruel punishment? Would she ever find a way of being happy again? There were too many questions left unanswered, and she knew she needed to find them out as soon as possible. If she could somehow manage to run away, she'd do just that.
The next morning, the young Cheran awoke long before the sun had even risen. She grabbed the one possession she'd brought with her-her mother's fur brush-and crept downstairs and out the doors of the orphanage. She already knew that this was a place she'd never return to again. Feeling a sense of freedom and satisfaction at overcoming such a big hurdle, Lydian sped up a little, but then stopped when she realized she had nowhere to go. As the day progressed, she caught some fish for her meals like her father had taught her and mainly kept to the Bamboo Beach's shore. Some workers of the Bamboo Beach Resort saw her wandering around and offered a free Pine Pomme, which Lydian gratefully accepted and ate hungrily.
As nighttime drew near once more, she found herself a secluded part of the Bamboo forest and made a semi-comfortable bed right underneath a large pomme tree. She was just about to close her eyes when she'd noticed something a few feet away out of the corner of her eye. It wasn't simply just another piece of nature, like the leaves and twigs all over the place here. She stood up and walked over to investigate. The object looked...somewhat familiar, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. She faintly remembered her mother showing a picture of one before, and the name immediately came into her mind. It was...a violin.
She looked around, but there wasn't anyone in sight it could possibly belong to. The neck of it was slightly bent, and its body was rather scratched up...the violin itself looked as if it had just been thrown aside. It was missing one of the four strings, Lydian noticed. She picked it up with interest and tried to make out some of the finer details in the darkness. Not too far from the violin was the bow, which she now realized she'd mistaken as another stick earlier. She was fascinated with the discovery and took the violin up into her arms as if she were about to play. Drawing the bow up from her side, she ran it roughly across the strings and produced a high-pitched scratching sound. Cringing, she walked back over to where she made up her bed and lay down with the violin next to her. Despite the horrible sound it made, the moment she'd lifted the bow in one hand and violin in the other...something just felt right about it.
Lydian took the violin to Harmony's music store the very next day, in hopes of either getting it fixed or trading it in for a new one. She opened the door and walked up to the counter, smiling as she spotted cedar wood, pine wood, and cherry wood violins on the one wall. "Good morning, can I help you?" Harmony asked with a smile.
"I-I have a violin here..." Lydian squeaked. "It's a little banged up, and I-I was wondering..."
Harmony took the violin from her hands and looked it over. "Ah, what a wonderful piece! Most certainly has some age to it," she said as she fingered the scratches and inspected different parts of it. "What is it you wanted to do with this?"
When Lydian told her, Harmony smiled. "I'd be happy to let your trade this in for a brand new violin, if you really wanted to learn." She gestured to the wall of instruments she had seen on her way in, and a smile spread across Lydian's face.
She left Heartsong Music that day with a long black case that carried her shiny new Cherry Wood violin and with a feeling of such determination she'd never felt before...and thus began her journey of learning to play the violin forever on. <3

Personality
Lydian is filled with joy, passion, and determination most days. She gets most of this from her deceased parents, who had always taught her to believe in everything she did and to never give up. When she picks up the violin, Lydian finds herself in another realm of her own, and tends to express her emotions and feelings through it. The graceful sounds she now makes on this violin tend to remind her of her mother the most, who also used to sing to her as a young Cheran. She still travels throughout Mistica, performing on street corners for money in order to buy food and other necessities with. She's also made a few friends along the way who stay with her for periods of time here and there. One of them is Fair, an Overgrowth Tarinooki who first heard Lydian's violin-playing down by the Kingdom Village wishing well. Lydian becomes most upset when she continues to have nightmares about hearing the news of her parents' deaths, and of actually seeing hypothetical ways in which they died. Her favorite foods include Kwariberries, Vanilla Frappes, and Carnation Cookies. When she isn't practicing her violin, she's most likely knitting scarves or hanging out at the park.
