May we never forget.

Giovani grew up in Rome Italy, he had seven siblings. Five sisters, and a brother, then himself.
He was the first born, and loved to help care for his siblings with his mom.
Giovani grew up quickly, and made his parents proud by attending medical school.
In school he heard rumors of the plague. No one really talked about it openly at first. Mostly little whispers and rumors, some theory's on how and why. Then in 1348 a rampage of death went through the city. At this time Giovani was a Senior and about ready to graduate.

The medical board decided they would graduate the Seniors early so they can go out and help with plague victims. It was a depressing ceremony because no one could come. Family and friends were driven away from the facility whether they had the plague or not. No one wanted to risk the doctors still left in the building.

Right after the ceremony, all the graduates were taking into the debriefing room

"Fellow doctors, we are under a curse. A rampage of death has hit our nation, and we must act now. I know you have all heard the rumors for a year now. The board has come up with a way that will help protect you. You must all agree on some guidelines.

We have also decided on an outfit you will all wear while going out. At the end of each day you will be quarantined separately. None of you should visit with one another, your family, friends, or have contact with anyone other than those with the plague. The city has all hired you, and you will be payed on a weekly basis.
Some of our colleges have already ran to other towns and cities to escape. We can not stop you from running, but we don't know if this will ever end. This day is the beginning and end of civilization as we know it. Will you help save human kind from extinction?"

A popular seventeenth century poem described the plague doctor's costume: '@BellaOnline'

"As may be seen on picture here,
In Rome the doctors do appear,

When to their patients they are called,
In places by the plague appalled,

Their hats and cloaks, of fashion new,
Are made of oilcloth, dark of hue,

Their caps with glasses are designed,
Their bills with antidotes all lined,

That foulsome air may do no harm,
Nor cause the doctor man alarm,

The staff in hand must serve to show
Their noble trade where'er they go"
