Zayne is happy with anything, but especially food and a good story. He likes to listen and hear absolutely everything you have to tell him. He is absolutely fascinated by things most people care nothing about or take for granted. His time stuck in The Home has given him a need for freedom so being stuck indoors isn't something he's comfortable with. He also has a fear of riding in vehicles, which is why he walks wherever he goes. He likes to travel and has no home to return to, meaning he has to resort to stealing or begging if he needs something. He has a soft heart though and a strong need to help other people, especially children. Child abuse makes him physically ill and he becomes very upset when people argue around him. He hates confrontation and would rather endure physical pain than hurt someone's feelings.

After drowning and being brought back at age 4, he's been able to see the dead. He's had three more near-death experiences, which have only seemed to strengthen his abilities. He was put into a home at an early age because of his "delusions" and suffered from severe depression and suicidal tendencies because of it.

During his time in The Home he refused to cooperate in most educational programs and lacks a great deal of "common knowledge" because of it. He isn't the brightest but he's very sincere. Still, he beats himself up constantly for his perceived stupidity.

At age 18 he was eligible for release and ran away before his parents arrived to pick him up, never turning back. He now travels everywhere by foot with his constant companion, Caspian, who's the spirit of a British teenager. Zayne is no longer very open about his ability to communicate with the dead, as it mostly gets him ridicule. He has more dead friends than living ones, and he's perfectly fine with that. He's come out of his depression and is a relatively open, friendly, and overall happy person. He enjoys company as well as being alone and never judges based off one meeting.

Death(s):
-Age 4: Drowned in the pool at home. Resuscitated by father.
-Age 9: Hit by a car after his bike darted into the road. Revived in the ambulance.
-Age 13: Attempted suicide via dropping a hair straightener into the bathtub. Saved by Caspian. Acquired lightening-like scar.
-Age 17: Hit by semi while riding back to The Home after a group outing. Declared dead on the operating table, but Caspian refused to let the surgeons leave until they fixed him.

Alex:
Due to a traumatic event which he can't recall, Zayne does have a split personality which they call "Alex." Alex is much harsher and more sarcastic than Zayne and also less friendly. He only gains control during one of Zayne's "episodes" though, so he's rarely heard from. Neither Alex nor Zayne know about each other, but Caspian is aware of Alex's presence and does his best to keep him under wraps. Episodes are triggered when Zayne becomes very upset, usually through people prying about his past or praying on his insecurities.
