Created by some chick named Marie, Upgrade was set free into this world not knowing about the harsh realities. It wasn't like he would care, anyway, with the way he treats things, unless those things happen to come up and bite him on the ass.
Being a shotabot, he is free to surf both online and offline, as weird as that sounds. He's able to go online from anywhere as long as there was reception- his specialty just happened to be demolishing whatever security you have in place, after all. When surfing around online, Upgrade's physical body completely stops moving no matter what he's doing, which may cause some pretty awkward moments, mainly because these moments happen quite frequently, due to Upgrade's attention span.
The sad truth is, Upgrade doesn't have a goal in life, and travels around as a means to figure out what he's meant to do. In the meantime, he's more than happy to harass every single person he meets, not because he's honestly interested in getting to know them better, but because harassing people was fun.
Unless, of course, the person has a similar short-termed goal as Upgrade. After all, having two people do something is more efficient and more fun than having just one.
