Pet Profile
Named after my grandmother. While it is named after my grandma, the story is not about her.
Udena grew up in a small town, no bigger than a thumb. She knew all, and everyone knew her. She never knew her mother, because she died giving birth to her. She had a tough life. Her father blamed her for the loss of her mother.
Her step-momma told her she need to learn a trade so she could survive because they were not going to support her. She tried all kinds of things from fishing to farming. She made mistake, disasters, and owed money to almost everyone in town.
One day she decided to go for a walk across the valley. Suddenly, she stumbled across an old house. As she came closer she noticed it was not abandoned, but lived in. The chimney puffed away, lamps were on in every room, and she heard jazz music blasting away. She peeked in the window, just as the owner decided to look out. They both screamed, jumped back, and the owner ran to the door. *Little girl, please come over here* Udena was scared walked over slowly and stood a good seven paces away.
The old woman said *First of all don't look in peoples windows. Second of all, I know who you are.* *You cause a lot of trouble in that town* she giggles *I will walk you home, and see if your parents will allow you to try my trade.* After her parents gave her permission, Udena was so excited she couldn't sleep.
Udena went to the house the following morning. She was greeted by the old woman, the rest of her employees, and a pancake breakfast. She had never ate pancakes before, and she loved them! The old lady was patient, and kind to Udena. It took her a month to learn how to sew. She wanted to stop within a week, but the old lady said no you can do it.
The old lady was right, Udena learned a trade she is good at. Actually, she won the best dress award at the last fair. She was awarded with praise and a trophy.
The old lady is no longer with Udena, but her legacy lives on through her creations.
