LOLFILLER
In the world he lives in there is only greenery around bodies of water, whether it's from a lake, a pond, streams, or anything of the sort. Tribal fits into the world as a member of a tribe of underground spirit contractors that time forgot. They live off a largely vegetarian diet, as most creatures are unable to survive in their habitat. Aside from being but a myth to the surface world, they live in an ancient time when magic was bountiful, because of a strong bond with nature. As a tribe of beings that walk the line between spiritual and tangible, they are often confused for ghosts or spirits to the people that end up underground in search of water.
For Liorre's tribe, they rely solely on a lake filled with glowing water. It isn't actually the water glowing though, a small crack in the cavern's ceiling allows light in during the day and when the moon shines brightly enough, the actual "glow" is created from a deposit of natural gemstones at the lakebed. A lore from the elders of the tribe says that in ancient times a dragon of the earth was laid to rest and crystallized. As for whether or not it has any truth...well...dragons did live in the ancient times. For his tribe, when boys and girls are children, a ceremony is held to contract them to the spirits of the element they have the strongest bond to. Normally it's joyous, and the reason they're called Spirit Charmers, however in Liorre's case it was disaster. Contrary to typical association, for a clan of creatures that live in the shadows of society, being chosen by the spirits of light is an omen. It's believed that one who brings light will be the downfall of their way of living, so before they come of age they are banished from the tribe.
The second reason they are removed is because unlike the others, those chosen by the light are typically blessed and chosen by multiple elements. Stories tell of a woman powerful enough to shape the earth, who was chosen by light, dark, and four of the natural elements. For Liorre, he was chosen by light and nature - the will of the plants. Five years after the ceremony, when it was decided he could fend for himself, he and the other children of light were sent away, to the surface world. In most cases banished children die of various causes, but Liorre was protected by the sun by day and found comfort among the trees by night. Nutured by the earth itself, he survived, and grew to be a beautiful young man. Wherever he traveled, flowers bloomed, and eventually society sought him out. Taking up residense in a dying forest between mountains and feeble villages, he became known as a guardian of sorts.
Somehow, he ended up being seen as a sort of messiah, a messenger of the greater spirits. Liorre has no idea where they came up with that idea, but so long as they leave him in peace he doesn't particularly care. After being discovered by the villages, whenever he ventures near enough to be sighted the children all rush to his side. Some of the older villagers see him as a terrifying creature, though. Born out of sight from the sun, he, like all of his people, has translucent hair and eyes the color of Mercury. A legend cropped up that on new moons his hair and eyes will glow, but that's a lie. The light is actually just produced by the spirits of light that come by and keep him company...but that would take too much effort to explain to the villagers for Liorre.
