For a long time, Sybil lived in the pound. He enjoyed the company there, many of the pets had interesting tales to tell. Some pets came and went, quickly snatched up by new owners, others, like Sybil, were practically permanent residents. Although it was nice to have friends and be cared for, and many humans donated nice things to the pound that he was allowed to use, Sybil still longed for a proper home, and an owner who cared about him.

Sometimes, Sybil would daydream about a human coming into the pound, pointing at him and saying "Come with me, little Skillow." and together they would go to a house by the seaside. Sybil loved the seaside - the smell, the wind, the sound of the waves, the shells on the sand and the little creatures that scuttled under the rocks. His only disappointment was that, as a Skillow, his feathers got wet easily and then he couldn't fly any more until they dried out. He envied the Aetras, who could spend all their time in the water, although they preferred freshwater, while Sybil specifically enjoyed the salty ocean.

One day, Sybil thought his dream came true - somebody finally took him in! However, the new human told him to wait a bit. She told him about an organisation she was running - picking up creatures from the pound, 'box'-ing them, and finding caring owners for them. Sybil was a bit disappointed, but excited by the prospect of getting a 'forever home'. He was even more excited when he found out that the box the human had gotten for him was an oceanic box! Quickly, worried that the human would change her mind, he hopped into the box. The box turned into dust, settling on him, and he became an oceanic skillow. Oh the thrill of being able to swim! Of fishing for food and racing the dolphins!

And eventually the human chose another human to be his owner, and he saw that his new owner lived near the forest, in a house on a cliff overlooking the sea...

He still occasionally visits the pound, chats to his friends, gives them little treats he fishes up from the sea and helps them if they need anything. He also urges humans to think before deciding to get a brand new pet, lest it end up in the pound five minutes later.
