"Ladies please! There's enough of the Captain for everyone!"
"What never seen a one eared pirate before?"
"Louise it's fine, I'll be okay. You just want an excuse to see me."
Personality:
He is so vain that he cannot go without looking at himself for even an hour. He is also an avid treasure hunter, and must avoid the robot police. He's quite crafty and uses his wits and charm to avoid being caught. He prefers to work alone and thus has no crew on his flying silver aircraft he nicknamed Subwoofer (after himself). He has no desire for women, despite being a constant flirt, since he fears for their safety and knows of the dangerous life he leads. He also considers himself to be elite and revolutionary, willing to easily reject society in order to "help" others by ridding them of their valuables. Beneath it all, Austin is a man full of regret and wishes to give up his life of crime but fears he will never be able to fulfill his dream of destroying the "evil" that comes with wealth and leisure. By those around him, he is deemed a hypocrite and a ruthless man.
Attire/Physical Description:
In terms of attire, he wears a long black coat with silver speaker shoulder pads, with a triangular cut-in that reveals a blue ruffled shirt beneath. He wears cufflinks that have mirrors on top (so he can look at himself). He is tall, slight muscular and has a rather lean build. His hair is orange with a long ponytail that is tied sing a black ribbon. He has scruffy orange stubble on his chin and has blue, almost clear eyes. He carries no weapon, since he relies purely on his strength to overcome foes. He wears skin tight gray trousers with criss-crossed suspenders. His left ear and both of his legs below the knees were off in a terrible accident. It left behind a gruesome scar that runs down his left cheek. Due to this he wears bandages to cover his wound. From the knees down he wears long iron clad boots that serve as his lower legs. He also carries a stamp in his left coat pocket with a crest of a lightbolt and a rose intertwined (his symbol) to stamp on his foes as a sign of them being beaten by him.
Relationships:
Louise:
The only person to understand Austin's reasons for plundering. This level-headed seamstress is the only person Austin has ever confided in. She has a great relationship with him, and has even traveled with him on his adventures, which is something he almost never does. She loves him greatly and would do anything to ensure his safety, acting sometimes like a motherly figure by offering advice or a shoulder to cry on. The two talk daily and she often visits him on his air ship. Louise also wraps his ear bandages, as well as makes every article of clothing Austin has worn during their time of knowing one another. She however hopes that one day Austin will toss his aggressions aside and start a family with her.
Story:
Born into the year 2040, Austin Subwoofer had a relatively normal childhood. 2040 was a time of flying ships and cars as well as robots and cyborgs, all of which fascinated Austin greatly.
As a boy, Austin would collect every toy associated with Sky Flyers and related merchandise. He was quite greedy and would never share his "treasure" with his classmates at the Sky Flyers Academy. He had no friends, but it didn't matter to Austin, for he had his dreams and toys to befriend him.
At school, he dealt with bullies who mocked him due to his small stature and his desire to fly with the sky pirates and rid the world of that was immoral and wrong. But eventually he went through puberty, grew to a relatively normal height of 5'9 and kept his dreams to himself.
But this normality was too much for Austin: he knew he was destined for greatness. He couldn't stand the simplistic life of going to school each morning, or the prospect of having a job or getting married.
To get away from all things mundane, Austin would sit at the dock to the airships. There he could think and imagine being a Captain of his own crew and ship being a force of power and righteousness. It was the only place where Austin could be at peace, for it was the place where the policeman of the sky reined.
That all changed one day when a nineteen year old Austin walked the twelve blocks to the Air Field. It was a brisk, but otherwise calm autumn day. The sun was shining brightly, making assuming shadows appear as he walked through the crowded city streets.
He heard a shout come from a nearby hanger near the Air Field. Austin knew if he wanted to become a Captain, he had to show his stuff and be brave. Now was a perfect opportunity.
Quietly, Austin meandered into the alleyway. He found a teenager, much like himself backed against the wall. Two men in torn clothing held a robotic dagger to his neck, sparks flew in all directions.
Without thinking, Austin thrust his body against the burly men, knocking them to the ground.
"Hey! What's the big idea blockhead," the taller man snapped.
Both men seemed to snarl at Austin, he was petrified but stood firm.
"Saving this man's life is what I'm doing fine sirs. Now if you could just-"
"Just what? What gives you the right to give orders?"
The shorter man moved the blade slowly away from the teenager's neck and pointed it at Austin.
The boy stared at Austin, he seemed to ponder staying and helping but then suddenly changed his mind and run clear out of the alley.
Burly arms grabbed onto Austin, almost without him realizing. Being as arrogant and pigheaded as he was at the time, he kicked and bit at the men's arms in an attempt to free himself.
But it was no use, they were too strong and severely outweighed him. Plus it was two against one. He was done for and there was no doubt about that.
His screams were only muffled by the rag the men had pulled off of their ragged clothes.
Snap! Crack!
A siring pain sliced through him: he could no longer feel his arms. They hung loosely at his sides, utterly useless to him now The pain was more than he could bear, tearing flowed from his eyes as he tried to hide his face from the men.
"Aw look the baby's crying."
"Does baby need his nannybot?"
The two men seemed to enjoy mocking him, which only made his torture more humiliating.
"Let's give him something to remember us by," the taller man grinned ominously.
In a sudden burst, the shorter man had the electrified blade directly above his left ear while the taller men held his own blade below his left knee.
His eyes widened in terror as he put together what would happen next.
Swiftly, the shorter man drove the blade through his ear. While the taller man began to saw through his left leg below his knees. A low buzzing was all he could hear, the world seemed to move slowly around him.
He could longer feel his left ear or the remainder of his left leg, but the warmth of the blood flowing down his face reminded him that he must be alive.
His sight became clouded as his watched the clouds move across the sky, how lovely he thought.
With his one good ear, he heard sirens and the sounds of screams.
The men cursed at themselves as they tried to finish what that had started.
Hastily, they cut through the bone of his right leg just as the police arrived.
A rather attractive girl around his age ran over to him and pulled his limp form onto the stretcher.
He watched as uniformed men handcuffed the burly ruffians and took them into custody. But Austin knew that simply putting them behind bars would no fix what was done to him.
His lifted his head in an attempt to see what it was she had in her gloved hands. To his horror, he realized it was his left ear.
Another medic was wrapping something in a thick cloth, whatever it was, I was thick and bloody.
As he put his head back down, he realized that the "something's" in the cloth were his legs. He felt weak from shock and lack of blood , and soon drifted off to sleep.
When he awoke, his head felt like a stone. He tried desperately to remember who and where he was. The girl with blue hair and beautiful lavender eyes was sitting beside his bed.
"Hello Mr.Subwoofer. I am Louise Pinewhile, a volunteer here at the hospital. I'm sorry to say, we were unable to reattach your ear.. We were too late I'm afraid. You're arms should heal up fine and we can even replace your ear and legs with a mechanical ones if you'd-"
He cut her off,
"I'm not under ANY circumstances allowing myself to become part robot!"
How dare she even say something like that to me, he pondered. He gritted his teeth. The mere notion of blending in with society he so hated was too much to bear.
Austin knew he could only rely on himself, for others were not trustworthy. They were and always would be spineless blowhards who take advantage of generous and thoughtful souls.
He could do no wrong, for the world deserved to pay for what was done to him. He was now a cripple, no more useful than a cadaver.
"I'm sorry.. It's what I was told to tell you. But I don't agree with it either. You're not the only one who's been cheated out of a normal life. I wanted to be a seamstress, but apparently there's no need for them in our world."
She continued to relay her tale to Austin, and it wasn't long before he knew he could confide in her, for now. She could be useful to him.
Louise and I aren't that different, both denied the right to be ourselves. I can no longer be an advocate of good, for not even the I've aided will come to my assistance.
Time to take from the greedy and give to wronged.
"Louise how would like to help me out of this bed? I have a little plan that mind make both our dreams come true."
She nodded and helped him out of the hospital bed.
Several years later, Captain Subwoofer looked back on his life. The missing ewasabi metallic legs were only bitter reminders of the suffering he endured. On the ground he was nothing more than a dreamer whose dreams were shattered.
He now can see what he was missing. The truth lies in the gold and treasure. Without stealing what is there to live for?
With Louise's specially tailored suit, he could quickly maneuver in and out of caves and avoid enemy blows. Never has there been a more crafty or powerful Sky Pirate.
Austin grinned and touched the scar on his left cheek as he dragged his metal burdens he called legs through the lonely corridors of his steel flying ship. Living the dream my dear Louise, living the dream. He closed the virtual chat session with his only acquaintance and smirked, a world of artifacts to plunder from the unworthy were waiting just beyond the morning mist.
