"The years have changed nothing. I gave you my oath, and I will be at your side evermore." Siegfried is a hero, a man of lore and legend. A slayer of monsters, a vanquisher of armies; one who could perform feats far beyond the limits of mortal men. Storytellers wove tales of bravery, bards sang gloriously heroic ballads, artists imagined valiant knights doing courageous deeds - all from his accomplishments. -- which is just the tiniest bit embarrassing to him. In truth, Siegfried is little more than a guardian. Ages ago, he swore an oath; he dedicated his life to the service of another. He made a vow to protect someone dear to him, no matter what the cost - and, in return, he could do so without fear: so long as he keeps his promise and sees that his lord remains unharmed, the pact made between them will ensure that Siegfried will always be around to keep him safe. It is a loyalty that surpasses even death itself. But, there came a time when Siegfried's charge made a voyage to a place beyond time and space, and the knight was unable to follow -- despite such separation, however, the pact itself held firm. Eventually, Siegfried's altruism led him to performing the deeds that he would become famous for, as he continued to bide his time until the day his master would return. -- however, not even in their wildest imaginings would lord and knight realize how long that would be. artbox + quad ref |
