Always says Always looked toward Kjaaul with a frown. "Well," he sighed. "I know I'll never be friends with that." He gestured toward Regret, and as he did the demon wolf was standing up. The beast turned and growled and smoke left its mouth. Then it jumped down from the fallen pillar onto the altar, then to the ground. The wolf ran toward the trees and slipped out of sight, leaving a ghostly mist behind it. Always mumbled to himself and turned away from where Regret had been. He started toward the fallen walls of the ruined building, stepping on something that snapped beneath his large hooves; he didn't care to see what it was.
Always says Always kicked away fallen debris in his path as he walked across the "inside" of the ruin. He answered Kjaaul, who was still outside. "No," he answered, very direct. "That beast and I are not 'friends'. It is a curse." Always stepped out from under what was left of the roof of the broken building, and he looked up toward the sky.
Always says Always looked up at the ghostly beast staring down at them. He answered Kjaaul frankly, "That is my regret. Every ounce of my malice and sorrow, manifested." The ghost wolf, "Regret", growled and shook its mane. "It is a curse," Always continued, "And it will haunt me until I meet again with my master." The horse stepped toward the ruin and peered through a large hole in one of two standing walls left. Seeing nothing inside he stepped through the hole which was more than large enough for the massive creature to pass through comfortably. Regret's eyes were locked on Always the entire time, and its head moved to follow the horse as it walked.
Always says "Is that so?" he asked, sounding slightly intrigued. He turned his head and looked down at Kjaaul. "And what is it you're after?" The ghostly wolf on the tower stared down at the two below, the look in its eyes was almost hungry. It shifted position slightly and lay more stiff and solid looking, the the Sphinx of Egypt.
Always says The horse paused and looked away from Kjaaul. He stared back into the trees for a moment, appearing deep in thought. Without averting his gaze he answered, "I will show him what he's done. I'll show him the beast his selfishness created." Always turned back toward the ruins of the small building. He stepped up onto what was once a wall but was now a single layer of stone. He turned to face Kjaaul and the wolf demon that lay on top of the tower.
Always says Always lowered his head and stepped forward toward the ruins. "Nothing is wrong," he said solemnly as he raised his head up. "This is my home." The black wolf utop the fallen tower breathed a hiss-like growl laced with heat and thick smoke. "This is where I last saw my former companion," the horse continued, ignoring the beas staring down at him from above. "And this is where I believe I am destined to meet him again"
Always says Always shook his mane and began to walk forward. He stared are the bushes from the corner of his eye as he continued through the forest. He and Kjaaul soon came upon a separation in the trees. Beyond the trees lay the ruins of what appeared to have once been a small building with some sort of shrine out front. A stone pillar lay fallen on top of the alter in front of it. The ghostly wolf walked up the side of the slanted tower from behind until it reached the top, where it calmly looked down at Always and Kjaaul. "Hmm..." the horse sighed.
Always says The wolf-like beast jumped back and growled at Kjaaul, bearing a set of sharp, white fangs. Always picked up a massive hoof and brought it down sharply, stomping the ground near the hindquarters of the ghostly canine. It immediately turned and bit at Always' fetlock (though the joint's heavy feathering shielded it from much harm) and bounded out from underneath the horse and ran into the cover of the bushes. Always knew that the beast's appearance meant he was getting close to his destination.
Always says "I wasn't always the beast you see before you," he said dryly. Always' steps grew heavier as he stomped angrily toward his destination. A dark fog swirled and weaved in and out between his feet, and red eyes shown from the "head" of the ghostly mass. Two feet touched the ground as four legs fell out from underneath what appeared to be a wolf-like creature. Its hind legs followed the front; they hit the ground running as the creature cantered out from underneath the massive horse, spitting a bit of fire and smoke as it went. Always' anger intensified when he saw his unwelcome visitor.
Always says Alway's ears perked up and he turned his head around slightly when he noticed the sudden stop in the following canine's footsteps. "Is something wrong?" he asked. The horse stopped and turned his body with his head. He stood with his back facing Kjaaul but he watched him from the corner of his eye. He could see the aggression in his follower's body language.
