Ryou's a very quiet boy who isn't all that great at making friends as much as he may try. He'd always had trouble with bullies when it came to school because,let's face it,the poor guy just seams to scream "Come beat me up" what with his plain,"I don't want to stand out" clothes and vulnerable demeanor. Sadly a boy with long white hair just isn't the easiest thing to keep hidden. It also seams that hair of his is always the target of bullies,the poor boy probably can't count all the times his hair's been pulled.
But it all got worse when his father sent him a present from Egypt. Now,I'm sure his father didn't mean too but it turned out he had bought his son a very precious item know as the millenium ring that,with Ryou's wonderful luck,turned out to be possessed by a evil spirit. Said spirit made Ryou's life a whole lot worse though at the same time made it better. The Spirit tended to take over when Ryou was being bullied and usually beat the living tar out of said bullies. The problem with the spirit,though,is that when he started to try and make friends and play his favorite RPG's with said friends they'd go missing....
It turned out the Spirit of the Ring had decided to take the souls of those who played the RPG and sealed them into the game pieces. The Spirit seamed to have a twisted way of showing how he cared as he had said the reasons for sealing Ryou's friend's souls within the game pieces was a way to keep these friends with Ryou,forever. The spirit seamed to think that this was what Ryou truly wished for,was to be able to always play his favorite games with his friends. This of course was not what Ryou wanted but there just wasn't much he could do about it,the Spirit of the ring was stronger then him.
Eventually Ryou became even more reserved then he already was. He was polite and friendly to anyone who spoke to him but he never tried to get close or make any real friends,for fear of them getting hurt by the Spirit. He also tended to transfer schools a lot,staying in one place for too long was a dangerous thing....if he got comfortable in one place he'd just end up being hurt or disappointed in the end.
That's basically how his life went up until he met Yugi Motou.....
(Now to know the rest go watch Yugioh)
