Reeses- the Other Half

I stare at them- dark brown eyes. Human eyes- eyes that mirror mine, save for the feline touch that I myself have. My lip curl in a snarl, and I rip my gaze from her face- my face. The similarity is definite, and try as I might, I am unable to tell myself it is a mere coincidence. However, being a Haruba, I bask in the fact we look completely different in a way, but somehow the same. That wasn't good. Was it? Confusion flickers in my eyes.
"Reeses."
She knows my name. How? Tensing up even further, I slide down into a menacing crouch, my tail waving warily in the air as I analyze the human. It feels so eerie, so out of place...I fight the urge to leap forward, to end the feeling of confusion. I hate that; it makes me feel as if I have a weakness to be taken advantage of. My mind reprimands me, aiding in fighting back the urge to destroy this human.
"How do you know my name?" I ask in defiance, keeping my fangs bared in a warning. "Who are you to come and act as if you know me? This isn't your territory- it belongs to the Haruba Pride."
The human laughs, her gaze averting away from me, sending chills of relief down my back. For a moment, though, it returns, as I realize her laugh is akin to my own- low and alto, slow and simple. The anger flies back, and my joints lock in a battle stance. My leader had always told me to drive off any outsiders off our territory, even if it meant losing my own life. His words were the codes by which I lived.
After her laughter subsides, she peers at me through thin glasses. "You really don't know who I am?"
"No, am I supposed to?" The venom drips out of my voice, and I cannot hold back my anger. "Leave!"
She heaves a sigh, and kneels down to perhaps look not as threatening to me. "I am Reeses too."
Then, before I even have a chance to spout some witty remark, she begins to ramble, or rant, whichever suits you. I barely can comprehend what she says, but the basic point is clear to me as the words run freely out of her mouth. What a talker...it dawns on me that was what others had said about me when I went on like this. It's as if there's another me inside that body, which in a way, was true.
"So," she finishes simply with a clap, "I'm your other half."
I stare, and then utter one of the most used, pointless phrases ever-
"That's stupid."
With an eyeroll- I dully admit I would have done the same should I have been her- she crosses her arms. "Right, right. Whatever, you'll understand at some point." A gleam appears into her eyes, and suddenly a feeling of weightlessness washes over me.
Before I know it, there's nothing around me- nothing but blackness. Slowly, two pinpoints of light emerge from the distance, and I run for it, seeking comfort in the light. My paws hit nothing below me, yet I am advancing closer and closer to my target. Soon, though, I cannot move any further. I peer into the light, and my vision quivers, followed by a sudden feeling of dread.
I'm looking into some sort of window, and I see myself. The first thought is- oh jeez, I look stupid... but is quickly thrown away by the second thought. Through the window, my body is being blown away by some wind, sending leaves and stray grasses hurling through the air, some passing right through me as if I don't exist. At some point, I am no longer there, and the windows stare at where I once was.
The girl's voice pierces the new silence. "The mind enters before the body. Welcome to my mind- our mind."
She laughs.
And somewhere out there, I feel like someone's watching me, laughing right alongside her.
