Rebellion 'Beginning and the End'
Serpentine Grace
by: gigaB0ne
Silence. That's all Kaziel hears.
He doesn't notice the shadows swallow and obscure the moss green grass and the brown of the ground. He doesn't notice the serpentine way the darkness wraps itself around the tree, the way the shadow slithers, ever so slowly, ever so gently, with a grace that could rival the midnight Angel himself. Kaziel does not notice the darkness fading until only gold and navy scales and slashed red gashes remain as they ripple in tune to the flexing muscles beneath.
Kaziel does not hear the gentle hiss disguised as silence.
With a soft hiss, the serpent slithers up the bark and wraps its long body around an overhanging branch. It tilts its crowned head in almost human-like fashion, scarlet slits narrowed in mild curiosity as the serpent studies the Angel. It was a strange sight, like a young wolf eyeing its prey, contemplating the way to capture it before ripping it to shreds.
The shadows return, licking along peeling branches before engulfing the snake in black smoke. Only the red slits remain visible as the darkness writhed and rippled and then something strange happened. The two specks of scarlet took a more human shape - blood red irises peered back from behind the black veil, human eyes. And as the smoke cleared, the serpent had disappeared and in its place a young boy with dark brown hair remained. He hung from the branches with gentle grace, pale, skeletal fingers gripping the branches.
With a quick spin, he lands with serpentine grace on the branches, startling the Angel.
Kaziel stares in shock, wings unfurling to take flight.
"Who are you?" Kaziel murmurs, afraid yet curious.
The boy merely sits down, returns Kaziel's stare with a tilt of his head, red eyes narrowed as he studies the other. As Kaziel tilts his head in turn, blue eyes specked with curiosity, the stranger follows, mirroring the actions of the other.
The boy had dark brown hair, sinfully pink lips and blood red eyes lined with midnight black which turned dark hazel as they caught the rays of sunlight. Kaziel frowns as the stranger's lips curls into an enticing smile.
"You want to know who I am?" He asks, voice dripping with danger, his body uncurling like a snake. "I know who you are,"
The stranger leans forward until mere centimetres separated the two. From this distance the smile looked almost predatory, the blood red eyes hungry. Kaziel pulls back hastily, putting distance between himself and the smirking stranger.
"Tell me Kaziel," the other murmurs, leaning back on his arms as red eyes stared at the blue skies. Kaziel shivers. How did he know his name? "Don't you get bored?"
The angel frowns, ignoring the voice at the back of his head that screamed run, run far away from this boy who reeks of danger. "Bored?"
"Yes, bored," the boy drawls. He holds up skeletal fingers against the sun and watches the rays filter through the cracks with child-like curiosity. "Watching everything happening, but not allowed to do anything. Obeying order after order. Following rules, rules rules,"
The stranger turns his head at the angel, mouth forming a smirk which morphed into a full grin, teeth and all. "I'm sure you've heard of me. Legendary stories I presume. The tree, the golden apple, the fall to temptation, oh how fun that was! But so so easy!" He shouts this with manic glee, head tilted back as he grinned at the sky.
Kaziel freezes. He can't be. "I'm sure you'll be more fun, huh, little Angel?" the grin remained, mischievous and terrifying, his white, sharp teeth resembling fangs.
Kaziel stands. The stranger mirrors.
He was Sin. Temptation. Rebellion. He is called many names. The fallen Angel who started and will end all.
White wings unfurl as Kaziel grips the branches above, ready to jump and take flight. But before he could, long, thin fingers grabbed his arms in a vice-like grip.
The stranger leans in, breath ghosting over Kaziel's face. "Rebellion. That's me right now." He breathes, smirking. "And it won't be so easy to run away from me, little Angel" Kaziel hears the ruffle of feathers and as he turns wrenching his arms away, his eyes fill with pure black feathers and a wretched smile.
"What do you want?" Kaziel whispers, stepping back.
Eyes burning red, Rebellion smiles. "A challenge. Entertainment. I have been awfully bored," his voice drawls as he turns his back and stretches his wings.
Kaziel shivers but stands his guard. He is a soldier of Heaven. He will not fall so easily.
But as the fallen Angel turns, as Rebellion looks at him with midnight lined eyes burning red and lips stretched into a dangerously playful grin, his words turns Kaziel's blood to ice.
"I'm sure you'll be much harder to break,"
