Thero is a happy pup one minute but once his mind wonders to the dark past of his brother's death he isn't the same. He tries to rid those memories that sworm into his mind but nothing seems to help at all. While he sleeps his dreams turn to vivid nightmares and he tries to fight to change the outcome but it's always the same. His petpal stands guard against the memories that seem to haunt him. His little guardian protects him against the darkness that wants so badly to consume him. One day the darkness consumes him and he wakes up to his pal standing over him licking his face. He tries to stand up but his legs and entire body feels different. He reaches out towards his pal and he paws are gone, they are now arms. He runs to the spring near him and looks into the water and sees his reflection and he realizes that he is now human. He is in a bad place with life when he runs into Pippa and they become close. He keeps her at a distance because he doesn't want to bring her down with him since he is in a dark place, but he also can't seem to bring himself to leaving her side. His darker side always wants to come to the surface when he is with her but he fights it to protect her. Keeping her safe is his only mission in life now.
