He is Asami's PARTNER-IN-CRIME, a tall, quiet, intimidating sort of guy who goes around in a TRENCH COAT and a DARK GREY HAT. He keeps to himself mostly, preferring to let Asami do all the taunting and teasing. He speaks up OCCASIONALLY though... to respond to Asami.
But, as SHE is the only person he really feels COMFORTABLE with, it makes sense that he doesn't TALK MUCH except to HER. As a result, most of the people he meets tend to think him something STUCK-UP... which he takes mild offense to. Can't a guy LIVE IN HIS MIND and not be JUDGED by the rest of the world? He's just the quiet-until-you-get-to-know-him type of guy, you know?
He DOESN'T like it much when Asami SMOKES. She does it A LOT and he got somewhat tired of telling her to put out her cigarette ALL THE TIME, so now he just walks around with this funny SORT OF GRIMACE ON HIS FACE until she turns around and notices and remembers he doesn't like the SMELL OF SMOKE.
He's something of a WIZ with KITCHEN KNIVES and the PISTOL. He opts for throwing KNIVES at the SUPERNATURAL CREATURES he's PAID TO HUNT because Asami likes using the pistol and he thinks TWO DIFFERENT weapons make them more DYNAMIC as a team.
He's got a MURKY PAST and his PRESENT BEGAN with an ACCIDENT that should have COST HIM HIS LIFE, but didn't, because ASAMI FOUND HIM and took him to a CERTAIN WITCH. He feels indebted to the TWO OF THEM but that's not the REASON he chose to stick around and HELP ASAMI OUT.
In all honesty, he stuck around because he TOOK A LIKING to Asami and the witch, and because in his previous life, he really DIDN'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS. Lucky for him, Asami took an INSTANT LIKING to him too and the pair were as chummy as TWO FRIENDS COULD BECOME in a week's time.
Asami's not TECHNICALLY HUMAN and he ISN'T REALLY EITHER, except she's got an reinforced skeleton and he's the one with the NEW HEART. The witch, according to Asami, is KINDA SORTA like an HONORARY member of their act because she gives the PAIR their sparkle and pizzazz, but he doesn't really like it when Asami talks about the TWO OF THEM that way because he thinks it makes them sound like FLAMBOYANT DANCING FLAMINGOS but when he points that out, Asami just laughs.
He has to AGREE though, the witch certainly has been HELPFUL. In fact, she's been a LIFE SAVER. He gets her to DRAW RUNES on all his KNIVES to increase ACCURACY TENFOLD and she's nice enough to let him DIP HIS KNIVES into her JARS OF VAMPIRE VENOM afterwards too. All she asks is that they bring back a part of every CREATURE THEY HUNT DOWN for her to PLAY WITH and really, he and Asami don't mind doing that at all.
