Olivier peered up at the incubation chambers and their identifying numbers as he passed, checking them off on his clip board as he went. He wasn't sure why his maker insisted on making him check on the splicelings visually every week. He pushed his blue green hair back "especially since they're hooked up to so much tech that as soon as anything goes wrong I'll be alerted and can fix the issue without even needing to leave the control room" Olivier added to himself, sighing. Maybe it was to be sure none of the pods were leaking or the splicelings hadn't managed to turn themselves around and strangle themselves with their artificial umbilical cords and the rest of the tubes in the chambers. His boots clinked along their path on the metal flooring as he continued on his way, pausing briefly to check the pressure gages that were known to be troublesome. As usual every one of them was displaying the correct signs for their current gestational period, none of the pods were malfunctioning or transmitting false information, and most importantly, none of them were being a pain in his butt today. When they were this new, things rarely went wrong so fast that they couldn't be salvaged, but things had gone badly in the past, and he was usually the one that got the brunt of the blame for these mishaps.

Moving on to the next isle, Olivier paced briskly past the first couple of pods, knowing that they were either empty, or in need of emptying, as the subjects had failed, or been terminated, earlier in the week. The liquids in the pods reflected against his hair, causing it to change colours to match. These splicelings were older, physically as large or larger than he was and more prone to sudden deterioration. For this reason he paid much more attention to these pods and the oldest of the juveniles currently in the complex. He wasn't sure of the exact science behind the deterioration in some of the splicelings, but he was pretty sure it was because some of the genes the maker had chosen for the 'foetus' in its early stages were not as compatible as was originally assumed. It could also be due to the serum that was added to the pods after the first 'stage' was completed. For some reason, although it is intended to strengthen their immune systems, the serum often caused very rapid deterioration.

Thankfully, overall, most of the older juveniles seemed to be stable for now and none of them had gotten themselves tangled. "Maybe these ones won't be complete botch ups like their older 'siblings' " he smirked lightly, tracing doodles on the pods before wiping them off. To date, only a few of the creators creatures had turned out the way he had hoped, while others had the potential to learn to be what they were created for. The rest were terminated and never spoken of again. This was why Olivier never named any of them, or referred to them by anything besides their number before their first year out of the pods.
