Necrotizing fasciitis is a progressive, rapidly spreading, inflammatory infection located in the deep fascia, with secondary necrosis of the subcutaneous tissues. Because of the presence of gas-forming organisms, subcutaneous air is classically described in necrotizing fasciitis. This may be seen only on radiographs or not at all. The speed of spread is directly proportional to the thickness of the subcutaneous layer. Necrotizing fasciitis moves along the deep fascial plane.

These infections can be difficult to recognize in their early stages, but they rapidly progress. They require aggressive treatment to combat the associated high morbidity and mortality.

The causative bacteria may be aerobic, anaerobic, or mixed flora, and the expected clinical course varies from patient to patient.

Personality: Necro is never seen without his constant companion Faciitis (an ordinary Surprysed.), or just Facii. Necro patrols the levels of death doing his best to prevent disorder. During his life, Necrotizing contracted a disease that rapidly destroyed the living tissues of his body. He eventually choose to end his life to avoid an extremely painful death. Once dead, Necro felt strangely at home in Death, and choose not to move on at once. He eventually took up a patrol to attempt to stop some the Dead from escaping Death back into life. After doing this for some time, he was approached by Asterelle who offered to make it easier to remain in the first levels of Death and to extend his abilities. Necrotizing accepted her offer and has remained on the job ever since. Necro has little interest in speaking; leaving communication to Faci. Faci is eternally cheerful, and never has an unkind word for anyone.
