Name: Natsumi Meaning: Natsumi is Japanese for "Summer Beauty" Age: Appears 23, Older than she looks Gender: Female Height: 2 ft. Wingspan is about 47 inches. About the size of a peregrine falcon. Color/Species: (to be) Daydream Skillow
Natsumi is a bird who loves anything beautiful in nature. Her favorite pass time is to lay in huge flowerbeds or be perched in blossoming trees, so it's somewhat rare to actually see her in flight. Natsumi even lives on a tiny, unnamed island that's covered in flowers.
She often spaces out because she's so busy admiring the vast scenery around her.
Even though Natsumi seems like a goofy bird, she has an important job. Similar to a shaman to an extent, Natsumi is a messenger. When a person dies, if they are to go to heaven they will come upon her first. Then, Natsumi will give the departing person their "messages", which are usually the mornings of their loved ones wishing for them to survive whatever happened to them.
If the soul decides it wants to go back to their planet and live once more, they must pay a toll to return. There are three payment methods a soul can use. The first and most expensive one, would be to use a large amount of their good deeds in order to be bought back to life in their original bodies. If the soul is able to afford this method, it will be very hard for the soul to be able to be accepted into heaven again. The second method would be to be "reborn" as a baby, and live with a new family and start their lives over. The third option would be to be reincarnated as an animal at random selection. Whatever option the soul chooses, they will have no memory of Natsumi.
There are unfortunately, a few exceptions to being revived. First off, Natsumi will not revive the elderly. Without selfish views, Natsumi feels that the elderly have spent enough time on their planet, and that they need to move on. The second exception is if their body is too badly mangled for them to return to. This would consist of thing such as decapitation, fatal wounds, etc. Even if a soul wanted to be reborn or reincarnated, their old body must be in good condition in order to do so. Also, if one is lucky to encounter Natsumi a second time, she will not revive them again. Revival is a one-time thing. Even for cats.
~Ikebana's name, Natsumi's pet, means "arranged flower" in Japanese. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement.
