If you ever asked the swamp people about The Mother they would either refuse to talk about her or say it's about the only story around with truth.
Mother or Mutter was a young lady who had moved to the Americas from Germany and made her home in Louisiana.
She loved the style of the plantation houses and they were huge enough to house the family she dreamed of.
In the small town there she was a teacher and after many tries finally with child but an accident took that away. The young woman was changed after just a shell of what she used to be and full of grief.
With luck she had another child which she kept secret from everyone. So determined that it was better to do it on her own that not even her husband could know.
She was too stubborn to go inside the house to have the child. In her mind letting anyone know about it at that point was still too much of a risk. Not far from the house near the edge of the swamp water she was to give birth.
One of her neighbors was out that night hunting, afraid of the dark creatures that might lurk in the waters her cries of pain frightened him. He shot at the strange noises he heard. The next morning when he went to see what it was he found her body in the tall grass.
Since then swamp people have rumored sightings of a pregnant woman who looked like she had been in the swamp waters too long. They say she searches the area for children to take since she could never have her own.
