I am artificial
I have no recollection of my past.
All I can remember is waking up in a room filled with white and a man looking down at me. His smile was gentle, so I felt comfortable despite knowing nothing. He told me I had been in a coma for a long time and that it was good to finally see me awake. I asked him what had happened... he gave no answer. I didn't push him further.
Months I spent in that room. At least, I think it was that long. Honestly I was asleep more often than not. My eyes would open themselves in the morning, the man would give me four pills that I would swallow, and within minutes I would be sleeping again. I was thankful for this arrangement, for my dreams were a paradise. Compared to the white room in which I lived, they were filled with endless wonder.
Eventually I began to dream much less. One day around that period of time a new person stumbled into my room. I quickly closed my eyes, faking sleep. I could hear her and the man talking about an experiment and the world's condition. They discussed how it had been improving since I arrived but had grown worse again recently. Confused, I opened my eyes and asked what they meant. According to them, the stranger naturally dreamed chaos and chaos happened in reality- a living doomsday machine. I was created to counter these nightmares. I dreamed peace and peace followed in the waking world.
Now in order to save the world, I must be fixed.
I must once again become a dreamer.
