Impatient muscles twitched without relief, facial expression wincing with every harsh dream that passed behind closed eyelids.
And every dream was harsh.
Never would she be able to live those events down; never would their deaths fade away. Each hour, it seemed, a new replay was available in her mind. Often the woman would cry out, her existence entirely unbeknownst.
Years had passed, and would pass. The woman would wait for the next great pestilence to return to the realm of wakefulness. After all, love was merely an emotion.
Something she'd be trained not to hold. Something she'd been scolded for having in the first place.
Another glimpse of his death made a once still tear roll down her cheek, the girl's pained expression hidden within the dark reaches of her confinement. She was imprisoned, now, forever. At least until her duty arose. The duty to plague those around her. To ravage the earth with her greedy sisters. To pillage. To kill.
Oh, how she missed him.
