From the darker depths of the Hallows, a place where all Hallowed Spirits call their home, lies a particular wicked one who adores creating chaos. Lanturnacht normally allows those from every depth of the Hallows to roam freely on Mistica, although there are many who observe the spirits to make sure they don't cause too much trouble. These Overseers mean little to the spirit known as Hemlock, as he has several tricks to break through the spell that keeps them from the higher world.
In the lowest levels, Hemlock has made his home in a vast thorned thicket with hemlocks sprouting out around him, which influenced his choice of name. Here he rarely has visitors and practices his spells in secret, binding what magic he has with the shadows around him to warp as he sees fit. Although his intentions are bad, his almost gentleman demeanor can easily lure others into a false sense of security, lying through his teeth so sweetly until he has the person exactly where he wants him.
Lanturnacht is one of his favorite times of the years, although he can escape to the real world any time he desires, his sense of freedom at the time means he can spread chaos and fear throughout those who are trick or treating. With his control over shadows and various spells, he is able to change his form into nightmarish creatures to frighten everyone. Watch out, you see that shadow near you in the corner?... He may be lurking in it right now.
