It's too late, you said you can't come back. You've always believed that I'd crumble without you. That's just not true, why would I do that? Thank you CheeseyWolf for letting me adopt him.
Name: "Hei" Rio Naviros Age: 20 Gender: Male Height: 5'4" Weight: 75lbs Occupation: Shadow Walker, Black Hawk NiGHT Member, Cerberus Branch Brought home Feb. 5th 2011 at 9:03pm Shroomed at 9:16pm Note* "Hei" is the romanization for "black" in Chinese.
[Dancer in the dark] Phase One has initiated Rio isn't unsocial, but rather he's typically rejected by nearly everyone he interacts with. Outside of work he's feared and hated as a known BioDeus. In NiGHT he's usually ignored by the other Black Hawk members, and doesn't typically have much interaction regarding the Shadow Walker division. When he has a moment to spare he's catching as much sleep as he can or eating enough to put a blue whale to shame. Although on paper it's a wonder he can even stand properly, Rio's body is remarkably durable. During his time as a Black Bird when he was stationed at the Pegasus branch where most of the members are native oriental, they gave him the nickname "Xiao Hei Niao" but since there were pronunciation issues when he was sent to Cerberus, the nickname got juggled and butchered until it was shortened to just 'Hei' and he's just never bothered to tell anyone to stop calling him that. After being called in Hei usually spends any free time and travel time snacking on candies, a few times to the extent of just having sugar cubes. It isn't because he has a sweet tooth, in fact he dislikes sweets quite a bit, however they are good for sating hunger when he doesn't have a chance to eat a proper meal. Typically, Hei is very lax and easygoing. He doesn't like stress and because he's part of the Shadow Walkers, there seems to be a natural ability of his to diffuse confrontations. More of an observer than a meddler he isn't opposed to getting dragged into heated arguments, so long as he doesn't get forced into a physical dispute. Due to his small frame, he works best as recon and usually keeps his weapon as a last resort. Although Hawks are supposed to act in teams of four, he very rarely gets along with the other three members of Delta 9. Phase Two has initiated In the world I walk in, one-third of the population is made up of BioDeus. These people are able to interact with the dead and have a latent ability in their blood that takes the form of a weapon. No one knows what triggers this mutation among people, but it's impossible to gain this ability if you aren't born with it. You can "awaken" as a Meister-someone who's able to use these blood weapons, but if you don't have the ability to, you don't have the ability to. I happen to be a BioDeus, and I work for an organization that works toward peace.
Normally, when someone dies, you expect that if they're going to come back as a ghost, they look like they did at the time of death or just faint after images, right? That they're just intangible "people" that the living can't see. Other people tend to think that either nothing happens-that they just go into the ground; or that they go to heaven or hell....or rebirth, or whatever you want to believe in. That's where the BioDeus come in. Since we can interact with the dead-called Shadows, within certain cities, they're actually ostracized for it. The reason they're called Shadows is simple, actually. They take on the form of a black mass that people who aren't BioDeus are unable to see, hear, or feel. The only difference among them is that Shadows are always inky black and are only able to interact with BioDeus. These Shadows, they only appear because they died but were still earthbound for one reason or another.
Normally they're pretty peaceful, but some of them will be aggressive and want revenge or something. When a Shadow's malice becomes heavy enough, it allows them to sort of 'peel' themselves out of the shadow and become Chaotic. Chaotic are Shadows so overpowered by sin that they forget who they were before death. When that happens a group called NiGHT steps in to deal with it. The only way to confront Chaotic are with BioDeus' blood weapons. We typically hope it never comes to that though, and when a normal Shadow's things have been resolved, they leave behind something called a Soul Gem for us. There's a specific scale for these Gems, the more clear it is the more "Holy" it is, the ones closest to proper diamonds is valued more, but even more than those, Gems closer to "Curse" are regarded as the most expensive because it's so rare for a Shadow to leave one behind. The most famous Curse Gem is actually the one I got when I was a child, when I killed my father. An obsidian black stone that is known as "Absolute" and no one's been able to put a price on it yet.
NiGHT is the organization that handles Shadows, they're well known across the world, but since two-thirds of the population are normal people, they view us as freaks. In each country they have a lot of main branches and each of those has subdivisions within all of the larger cities. The main Headquarters where the Round Table sits is in an unknown underground location. The Round Table is composed of the five "Kings" as we call them, men and women who are chosen based on credentials and reputation rather than whether or not they're BioDeus. Below them is the Noble Court, the eight legendary BioDeus second only to any in the Round Table. There's a rumor that anyone who's able to become a part of the Noble Court is initiated by drinking the blood of a sacred animal and becoming part of them. Each class has a specific name, Phoenix With a burning blaze, they specialize in projectiles Cerberus Striking out like a vicious wolf, no Chaotic escapes their axe's blade Centaur With the blessing of wind, sylphs guide their arrows Lycanthrope With the power of the ancients, their swords are blessed to protect their allies Sphinx Imbued with the knowledge of generations past, they use staves to light the path of Pegasus Strike like the wind and bind the soul itself, not even blades can sever the bonds of the whip Basilisk Deadly and accurate, a knight's first ally is their lance Gryphon Be one with the fury of zephyr, slice the night with scythes Currently NiGHT has eight primary bases named after the Noble that commands that place, it's usually in the largest city of the area, then there are two secondary bases in the second and third largest cities of their area. Under those are subdivisions for each of the more populated cities. There's no correspondence between the type of weapon a BioDeus uses and the base they're stationed at; for example, I'm in Cerberus and my weapon is a dual bladed scythe.
I suppose I should explain the different "ranks" or Class Titles we have, right? We've given our Title based on ability. Of course, as we gain more experience we can change, but typically it doesn't happen. The only ones that are mixed with BioDeus and non-Deus are Magna (Scientists) and Observers-they're usually just normal people who want to help the BioDeus; it should be noted that there are currently three BioDeus Observers who have a telepathic blood weapon that acts as a radar. The rest of them...there's the Black Birds-normally everyone starts out as a Black Bird, they're NiGHT's gophers and are apprenticed by the others to learn the ropes. Shadow Walkers are the second largest division, they're (un)armed negotiators that communicate with the sane Shadows to help the pass on. Black Hawks are the largest division, when there aren't Chaotic rampaging the streets of their base, they're being used as guinea pigs for Magna; put under a knife or microscope-but their lives are never compromised, as per the NiGHT regulation. Black Hawks are notably the most bloodthirsty and warmongering division and always seem to be at odds with Shadow Walkers for one reason or another. The last division, and the smallest, are the Oracles. They have an ability to trace BioDeus and Shadows on the verge of becoming Chaotic. Thanks to them the Hawks always have a tip off of where to hang around. As far as the Oracles go, they are protected at all times by designated Hawks and always have a blood weapon Staff. I may say that, and although every Oracle uses a staff, not everyone that uses the staff is an Oracle.
