She created the island in spite, a feat to show the other Gods that she was capable of such things and to show off her power. At first it was nothing but molten rock and raging volcanoes but as time passed, she had become to love her island, delicately placing each flower, animal and blade of grass by hand. With her loving touch, the island blossomed into a paradise and it was hers. She was protective of her home and fought to keep it to herself even when the other Gods begged to glimpse even a sliver of its beauty. She denied their request and over millennium, they stopped asking, leaving her and the island alone.
Time passed quickly even for a Goddess and after many eons, she soon became lonely and with hesitation, she left to seek them out. She searched the world over and beyond for her old friends but found nothing. either they didn't want to be found or they disappeared in oblivion as some Gods do. So with a heavy heart, she returned to her island but what she saw surprised her. Natives found her little paradise, they came by sea in makeshift boats and made the island their home. At first she was jealous, how dare they destroy her creation with their huts, hunt her animals and even disturbed the very soil.
She threw everything she could at them to make them leave but they persevered, adapted and a funny thing began to happen. They began to worship her, offering her gifts and talking to her as if they knew her their entire lives. They vowed to protect her and the island from invaders that sought to harm her and her home. So when again she found herself cherishing these people and it made her smile as she watched the children laughing, enjoying the things she created so she on that day she decided to give these settlers her island and to become their guardian even if it meant that one day she would be forgotten and fade away like her friends. She morphed herself into the very island itself vowing anyone who even took a sliver of her away from her home, they would feel her vengeance.
Now she slumbers, awaiting a time when the people call to her and when they do, she will rise and exact her might over those who disturb her children and their home.
