We look in mirrors and hope to see
that of which we revere, ourselves, our essences,
but there is only flesh, and if we believe what is there, then we are deceived.
So do not worry, there are things about you that you cannot seem to understand.
They are always there, and always were.
Do not trust those that would claim absence from blindness. They, of all harbingers, are the most likely to be misguided and manipulative.
Look inside. The truth is there. Nowhere else.
Only you can see it.

"The Warlock"
Grell is a fire spirit, summoned into creation by the cruel and selfish among us. These people sought to manipulate them, to use his fire and his will for their own gain.
Fortunately, they failed.
Grell has become an extremely righteous individual, and because of the nature of the first people he came into contact with, absolutely abhors manipulators and liars. He is young, impetuous, and hot-headed. He always seems to know what's best, even if he doesn't really know you that well at all. He is nosy, and expressive, and likes too much to get involved. And he always seems to be talking just a little bit too loud.
Despite all his talk, he doesn't feel that he has a real identity. He doesn't know himself well. Perhaps that's why he talks so much, because he's trying to sort himself out. Who is he really?
These confused thoughts of his do have a source. He enjoys destruction. He enjoys burning things. And this terrifies him. He does often indulge, as much out of curiosity as out of desire, but he will make sure no living thing is harmed in the process.

Mountains sound the drums of old
while forests sing songs long lost,
the rivers run with wicked scorn
and the skies light up in pained dismay.
Fires burst in hopeful pride,
lightning strikes in decisive vengeance,
the oceans beg for clarity,
and the winds they pray for rest.
The rain falls down with hopes to cleanse,
the canyons quest for time and plans,
valleys weep for want of peace,
and the varied lands sound discordant horns,
for the earth prepares for war.

From the ashes of the liar I was born twice. First, in belief. And again, in scornful disbelief.
Who knew such words could bear such incredible untruth?
I heard disembodied voices, chanting and in their songs telling me of my future and purpose, and I thought: deciding my actions for me.
I listened on in anger and remorse. Were these to be the first things I learned?
When it became too much, I rose from hot, red, engorged flames and leapt forth, devouring before me fleshed and fallible things. Hellish, fiery death consumed them and left nothing but ash in its wake.
I roared and ate what lay before me, my foes were gone but I was new and hungry all the more.
So what yet was fallible did not flee, and I grew and grew, feeding with abandon. I knew only a hunger then, forgetting why I was born at all.
But then, from the great heights of the mountains roared a gusting voice, "Yield, continue not or perish at my hand, for you come too close to lands of my own! And from what I see, you feed too much in earnest and care not for what is destroyed."
I was haughty and did not yet understand, "Say? What voice is that who yonder calls, I am hungry and who are you to stop me?!"
"I am the fierce mountain wind, come to tame the naive and foolish woodling fire!" spoke again the voice, but this time came a vicious and stifling gale.
I struggled and fought and spat my anger. What a thing, to defy me! Surely, so strong was I, I could outlast something of not even real substance!
But alas I found my edges receding, and much too quickly I was left, just a flicker in the whipping winds, at the mercy of my opposite.
I felt in this my weakness. My sights waned, pulsing, growing only smaller, and I felt in me meek, unhappy thoughts. For a moment I stopped fighting the winds and fought only with myself.
"What ho? There, so it is, it does feel things other than haste and hunger," crooned the gales. The winds slowed and circled and allowed me room -- but not much.
"You mean not to end me, then?" I asked with a voice only just tinged with bitterness.
"No, no," mused the booming winds, "I think we shall see what you shall do, now that you know you are not so big." As quickly as the thing had rose, it dove swiftly away, leaving me alone in a charred and beaten landscape.
With no path laid before me, and my strength spent and myself weary, I looked out and saw my anger and power reflected back at me in death; I flinched, and turned to the greener parts.
I saw opportunity and seized it. However, this time with tameness and control.
