Elian seems a cruel name for a gaunt and sorrowful creature as this. At first he cuts a very tall, almost imposing figure, always standing shoulders back and head up. But he is skeletal -- a violent wind might snap him like a twig -- with sickly pale skin and deeply shadowed, sunken black eyes. His hair is long and fine, black, usually pulled back at the nape of his neck. All in all the man looks like he has one foot in the grave.
He speaks slowly and carefully, and every word carries a hint of knowing. Elian also seems to be deeply empathetic but utterly lacks a filter as well. The truth is spoken freely but he always seems to feel the pain it causes the hearer. It seems as though Elian completely lacks a temper, but really he simply has it on a tight leash.
Part of Elian's sorrowful demeanor is how he sees. The spiritual world is clearly visible to him; he sees souls that are currently departing, those unwilling to move on, and if a living person is close to death. Because he is privy to such knowledge Elian cannot kill. He can certainly defend himself with whatever is at hand, and is far stronger than anyone would guess, but he does try to avoid causing pain. If he must, however, Elian can use memories as weapons. In an instant, with a brief touch, he can rifle through your mind and bring up the most painful or pleasurable memories. They are as vivid as if you went back in time to relive them. Without touch he can still see inside minds, and his own is so well defended even the best psychic would burn out before getting in.
