She sought out a quiet place, a place where no-one went. She found a network of underwater caves, where Misticans seldom wandered. It was perfect. Here she laid her eggs, and here she knew they could hatch, and grow. Her little ones could learn to swim and to scavenge, they could grow big and strong in the safety of the caves. Out in the open ocean, there were predators who would happily feast on a baby dragonfish-ling, but would be hesitant to tackle a fully-grown dragonfish. So, she decided. She would guard the entrance of the cave until her babies grew up enough to be able to stand up for themselves. Until then, she would not let anybody enter. No matter what.
