I opened my eyes, a blinding white light greeted me. I was seated in a chair, which sat in the middle of a metal room, with one large glass window that lead to another room. A voice, one that I knew well spoke "I'm truly sorry dear, you were just... So compatible." I flew to my feet, knocking the chair to the ground. Through a pane of glass he stood, Dr.Solder.
"NO!" I screamed, my fists slamming against the glass.
He gave me a pitting smile "Don't worry Angel, you'll be able to smash through a lot more than just glass when you wake up" He smiled again, this time with less pity and more... envy. I shook my head.
"Your sick." I spit, baring my teeth.
He laughed in earnest this time, a hearty laugh it seemed, but in truth it was a mad mans laugh. . "Don't worry Dear, you won't feel a thing. Not even after the operation. Your actions will be programed in. The perfect assassin, the perfect solder. Metal and flesh." I choked, coughing, my vision faltered.
"What did you do?" I fell against the wall.
"Only whats necessary, I couldn't send in the surgeons with you awake" I crashed to the floor, as my vision went blurry.
"no" I whispered, as things began to fade black, and my fate became sealed.
But Metal cannot always suppress a soul
I awoke, my vision sharper than ever. I vaguely remember fighting, against a beast in my head. It wanted everything, but most of all, it wanted my soul. I knew that I couldn't let it win. I blinked, I had really made it hadn't I? I felt something running down my face, I reached up, and touched my hand to it. I looked at my hand, it was covered in my blood, that seemed to be pouring from my nose. I sat up, swung my legs over the edge of the bed, and quickly realized where I was. He had called it the infermory. Beds lined the wall, some of them occupied by...Cyborgs. I stood, and in one quick lift of my foot, fell. Its sudden weight unfamiliar. I crashed to the floor, and then pulled myself to a sitting position. Looking down I saw a hospital gown and the cold floor. Plip, plip I looked at the floor, "Oh' I said aloud, remembering my bloody nose. Around me was a pool of blood. I reached my right hand up to slow the blood flow, but all thought left as I saw it. A Mass of metal, wired and buttons followed up my whole right arm. I gasped, realizing the truth, I was a monster.
Striking
I don't remember what happened, at the time I wondered if I snapped, but now I know what it was. I remember something seeming creeping up in my mind, and then.... When I "woke up" All around me was destruction. Fire, rubble, and.....
Dead bodies.
I stumbled away, throwing up on the rubble around me. My legs still felt odd, but I was able to walk on them.... How? I wondered. There was a gash on my good arm, my left arm, a sluggish flow of blood truckled down. Looking down at my hospital gown I saw it covered with dried blood, I hoped it was from my nose. My eyes caught on something to the right, I turned my head to look to see one of the lab assistants that I knew, Greg I think. Half his face was crushed in. I put my hand over my mouth, the cold metal smelled of blood and reminded me of the horrific reality of what it was. I dropped my hand and screamed.
One foot forward
I can't remember how long I sat there, among the rubble and dead bodies. I screamed and cried till hints of dawn came. Somehow I realized that II had to move on before someone realized something was wrong here and came to investigate. I knew I had to get real clothes, but the only clothes I saw were on the dead.
After scrounging, swallowing bile, and throwing up half a dozen times I managed to get enough clothing to be considered dressed, it was a long process and gave me the true extent of my inhumanity. Metal, somehow slowly changed to skin, stretched from the bottom of my neck all the way to the base of my ribs. My feet where strange and bulky and covered in metal, my legs where covered from knee down. My left arm was thankfully skin and bones.
