 | Brendan & Elijah two halves to a whole Elijah Bernard was raised as an orphan after a freak accident took his parents in California. The entire family was extremely poor beforehand, leaving Elijah stuck in poverty, but his parents' deaths dumped him in the foster system. The tiny, frail-looking boy became skittish and shy due to constant bullying in homes. When his seventeenth birthday rolled around, Elijah was all alone, and depressed. He wholeheartedly believed he was beyond fixing and quickly jumped at the chance to rid of himself. Another teen in the foster system, Amy Carson, offered her "assistance" to kill them both. Elijah took her up on it, but as Amy faded away from a bottle of pills, his own body rejected all attempts of self harm. As soon as the two were found locked in a room, Elijah asked to be shot, but the police refused. He was admitted to the local psychiatric ward for trauma and depression. At first the boy avoided everyone and everything, denying all food and drink. Hunger and thirst never affected him. It was in the psych ward that Elijah met Brendan, and after many incidents, the two came to realize they had a special bond and a peculiar ability. They were indestructible to everything but fire. |  |
