Always wandering...always a stranger...
One bitter winter night, a wandering spirit appeared at her door in the form of a disheveled old cheran and asked for a place to sleep and a meager meal. Barb, being who she was, rudely denied and mocked the homeless spirit, before slamming door in its face. Unfortunately for Barb, this spirit was a ruthlessly vengeful one, and later than night, she died.
Barb awoke facedown in the snow in an unfamiliar forest. The snow fell relentlessly and a freezing wind whipped through the trees, threatening to snap them at their trunks. Knowing nothing but the need to escape the blizzard, she roamed for hours before finally coming to a cozy-looking house. There she pleaded with the home-owner for shelter from the storm, and was flatly denied. So began the girl's new life.
Barb now lives nomadically, wandering from place to place in hopes of finding somewhere to stay. She has no family, or at least none who care, and has only vague memories of her past life which tend to come to her in dreams. She remember nothing of this life past her waking in the snow, and hopes against hope that she has amnesia which will someday wear off.
Her travels have made her gruff and sometimes callous, but she has a good heart. A great difference from who she once was. Unfortunately for Barb, the spirit who originally caused the mess has either forgotten about her or doesn't intend to restore her to her former glory. It would seem that regardless of her newfound humility and kindness, the cheran is still doomed to roam the earth for the rest of her life.
