Overview

Ffamran mied Bunansa is an infamous sky pirate who goes by the name of Balthier. Both he and his partner Fran travel across Ivalice on his airship, the Strahl.

During an attempts to steal from the Royal palace of Rabanastre, Balthier encounters a young boy named Vaan. And just as fates would have it, is also attempting to rob the palace treasury.

As time goes on and his plan goes awry, Balthier finds himself a part of a conflict between political forces that could lead to war.

Personality

Balthier is a charming, and dare I say handsome young man whom is in his early twenties. One equipped with a sharp and cunning wit, and in turn he is also cynical.

His personality comes across both cocky and self-centered often referring to his habit of thinking it is always his story and referring to himself as "the leading man." But, his trust in his comrades and partner Fran is complete. And despite his personality, he is far from selfish, proving himself in the events aboard the Sky Fortress Bahamut.

Appearance

Being is six feet tall and weilding short brown hair with blond highlights and sharply styled sideburns he is one sight for the eyes.

He wears an embroidered golden and olive green vest over a high-collared shirt with tight black leather trousers with leather shin pads, and steel, open-backed sandals. On his hips he wears two crossed, gold-buckled belts with two pouches attached to either side and a collection of brightly colored rings and bracelets on his left hand. He also has a set of earrings in both ears. And often can be seen holding various guns; his assumed favorite Betelgeuse. Never mind the fact he is very well-suited for close combat, rather than distance damage.

Early Life

Born in 684 Old Valendian, he is the third son of Cidolfus Demen Bunansa, a scientist in employ of the Archadian Empire. He showed such promise at a young age he was made an Archadian Judge at only sixteen years old. A great and noble feat indeed. While in 700, six years prior to Final Fantasy XII's storyline and after his father returned from Giruvegan, he began to notice his father's sanity slowly fading. Many times catching his father talking to someone who wasn't there and constantly listening to his ravings about "bringing the reins of history back to the hands of man." Inevitably his father's behavior strained their relationship and with time he could not stand the sight of him.

Time passed and he had a falling out with his father. Combine this with the political maneuvers of Archadia, it finalized his decide on leaving his post as Judge and to flee the city. All the while stealing a new prototype fighter ship as a means to escape from Archades. And since hiding he had taken up 'updating' its design so it no longer looks the same; he has named his craft the Strahl.

With his true name being Ffamran he took on the name "Balthier" as an alias to help cast aside his ties with Archades. And even partnering with a viera companion named Fran. And since then he has flown the skies of Ivalice searching for treasure, gaining notoriety as a sky pirate, and forever increasing the bounty on his head.
