In the past century, during the great war, six mortals rose to the occasion and proved their worth. While they are no longer on this earth, their descendents are, and it's time they know the truth. The war took place between the mortals and immortals. We were not gods, we are not gods. We are simply that, creatures that do not live within the mortal coils of time. The great war was not something known to man, for it was lost in the annals of time, but neither side left a glorious victory. It was a brutal struggle for dominance of those who could not die from natural means and those who had the means to cause unnatural deaths. I will begin with the sides. The mortals and immortals were at war for many generations, it began when humans stole weapons from the immortals. Normally, we would have looked the other way, ignored them and let them go on with their shenanigans, however we had to step in when they began using our weapons to wage war on one another. This began the war between us and them, but eventually a few of the immortals began to stray, wishing to go back to their peaceful days. There were groups of mortals that wished for the same, and together the rebellion was formed. Their goal was different from the mass, rather than eradicating one side or the other, we simply wanted to take back the weapons. Without an unnatural hand we believed the mortals would eventually return to how they were.
I, along with my brothers and sisters, fought for neither side, but instead fought in the hopes of peace. We were lead by the being you know as Musician. At the time his name was Legato. He was a creature of music, in tune with nature's voice. A pacifist by nature, Legato despised the signs of turmoil. Despite this he was the first to rally a revolt. Since Legato was the first to rise against the others, and chose to take responsibility for us, he was the only one that was punished. Although strictly speaking, because of his honor, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. For the leader of the rebellion, the king of the immortals passed judgement. For willingly stepping forward, he would only be stripped of one sense. Legato chose his sight. For bravery, he was stripped of his name; and for honor, he was spared the grip of death but was sentenced to isolation. For those who have been given the pass, you may know it as Vidolfnir's Nest.
For Thanatos, he never left Legato's side, well - he never wished to, anyway. His punishment was to be stripped of his wings, but in return the true gods gave him passage to access Legato's nest. For one who no longer had his own name, Thanatos chose to forsake his as well. Being a relic of the dawn age, he chose to use that as his new name. Relic is always within reach of the Nest, and only gives those of valiant soul and pure heart passage to see his Musician. Once upon a time, Thanatos was a brilliant military mind that excelled at taking one's life, even among the immortals; but he lost his passion, choosing to become a paladin to serve Legato. Since then he's always been with him.
Protect became strange. Despite spending his time with us on the field, he had an actual home, a territory that was his own - from a past life when he was a dragon, there were riches beyond the belief of man; but he chose to allow anyone who could safely step through the natural fortress that his home became. After many years of being left to its own devices, Protect's 'treasure' was buried under a natural defense to keep out anyone aside from its owner. I'm not really sure what he has on his mind regarding it, but what he does is up to him. Protect's voice was taken from him during the war, so while he can no longer speak to anyone directly, he has other ways of communication. It seems to be possible for the more sensitive beings to gather the gist of what he's thinking, if he tries hard enough though.
Unlike the rest of us, Dart was originally mortal, as a centaur with the body of a deer, he was simply a wandering archer who lost his tribe. After the war he was actually granted immortality and became the guardian of the World Forest, the only passage to Yggdrasil in the mortal realm. Although he can no longer see the others with his own means, being restricted to the limits of the forest, he takes his responsibility with pride and keeps out anyone without the Brand of Calling. Dart was, and still is, and odd thing. During the course of the war, for the sake of having some company, he created some strange creatures from the bamboo around where we were camped during combat.
As for me, only my age was taken. Strictly speaking I'm the oldest among us, but my age was reversed and stopped. It's not nearly as detrimental as it sounds, but they knew they couldn't afford to affect anything else. As one of the few non-deity races that can create life out of nothing, my ability is invaluable. Unlike the others I'm still shown respect among our fellow immortals, but with fair reason; for the ability to create life is the ultimate power. However, I have an actual mission aside from that. After the war ended there was no one who could - or wanted to, tell the mortals about their folly and what had happened. For the immortals, those who rebelled to end the war were seen as outsiders, whereas for the humans they were revered as heroes and sung praise. As I seek out the descendants of the heroes I impart the knowledge that will hopefully prevent another war from ever happening.

Write a wish and tie it to the tree of life, someone will eventually attend to it.
If you're feeling brave there's the wishes on the higher branches of the tree.
