Silent Melodies

There once was a feline girl with snow white fur, beautiful blue eyes, and no voice. And they called her Allegro, for her heart and soul were running free with music.
She was born into a family of art lovers, her father being a piano maker and mother a poet and artist. Despite being mute her family loved her and was always supportive, everyone learning sign language to communicate with her through it as well as through spoken words. Mostly she appeared calm, kind and timid, yet she was wild at heart and when given the chance she would be just as joyful, social and lively as all the other children she played with. She went to the same school as her older sister, though while her sister showed more interest in literature, Alle's heart was captivated by music. She learned to play the piano and violin and even started writing and composing her own songs. Although she was sad she couldn't sing herself, she would not let it discourage her. Over her time in the musical academy she made many good friends and joined groups which helped her share her music with everyone. By the time she was in her early twenties she was well known throughout the town as a gifted composer and pianist. Every now and then she would give concerts with other singers, she would take care of the music while they sang her songs. And she enjoyed every bit of it.
One day, after one of her concerts, she was approached by an unknown woman. The stranger congratulated her on the beautiful performance and asked to have a private word with her. And once they were alone, she spoke:
"I've been watching you for a long time, I've been at every single concert of yours. At first it was curiosity, but now it is not just the music you play that draws me in, it is also the one echoing through your heart. You see, I am no normal person. I am a spirit of melodies, born from the music of the world and living for that alone. And I can feel the melodies that hum inside your heart. I can feel your wish to set them free, and I can help you with it. If you accept my gift you will become similar to me, once you pass from this life you will yet live on as a muse, able to stay in this world and inspire others. And while I cannot give you a voice to talk with, I can grant you the ability to sing. As long as there is music in your heart you will have the power to give it a voice."
Needless to say Allegro wholeheartedly accepted.
After that night a lot of things changed for her. It wasn't just her silence that was changed, it was her pelt as well. In public, people believed she only wished a change in style, after all, why else would she dye colorful stripes into her pelt? They wouldn't be able to see it, yet it were not mere stripes, it were the notes and lyrics of the songs of her heart written all over her, the markings of the spell. Due to being aware what confusion her sudden ability to sing would cause, she decided to keep it a secret and only tell her family and closest friends. After all, she had already found a way to share her music with the world, and she loved her collaboration concerts. Thus she would only sing privately for those dear to her and for herself. As well as, so she believed, the spirit who was hopefully still somewhere out there listening to her.
