Bio:
Formerly the protege' of one of the most renowned magi in Mistica, he was known for meddling in the darker arts far more than he ought to, to meet his own lofty goals. Albedo often spent his spare time learning powerful spells and enchantments in the hopes of surpassing the abilities of his own mentor, whom he deeply envied. One such power that had given his master great difficulty was the art of shapeshifting, and so Albedo took great effort in obtaining those powers for himself. Too proud and confident to heed the warnings of his peers about the risks he took in such a dangerous form of magic, he continued his experiments into the occult, until one day a rather powerful spell backfired, stripping him of his natural-born form and transforming him into a pale-hued Jinx... permanently.
He implored his mentor to help cure him of the affliction but he refused; explaining that, through his own arrogance, had proven himself unworthy of the wealth of knowledge and powers Albedo had been offered. To punish him for his misdeeds his mentor abandoned him, in the prison he had made for himself.
Loathing the form he was now trapped in, Albedo scoured Mistica for ancient tomes. If his teacher would not help him, he would find a way to restore his original form on his own.
Albedo followed many leads, all of which lead to nothing but frustration and wasted time, until he met Zulime in the Banshee Swamp. Unaware of the ancient Belragoth's immense magical power and still quite full of himself he demanded the witch's Book of Shadows, as he knew of her dabbling with form-altering poppets and potions. When she refused to relinquish the book he attempted to take it by force, underestimating her abilities and quickly finding himself outmatched.
His elementary spells and incantations were no match for the wizened dragon, and Albedo was cursed several times over... Now not only was he a Jinx, but a ghostly, ethereal creature who was feared by any that took sight of him, doomed to be so until such a time as he proved himself worthy of the magic that would restore him to his original body. Still far too high on his own hubris to lower himself down to such a level, Albedo resumed his quest to search out the magics that could cure him... or at least, he tried. The phantom-like form he now inhabited brought him far more trouble than benefit: many who saw him attacked him on sight, others fled, but none would trust the creature who had so obviously been touched by something dark and sinister. He remained like this for years, alone, a pariah everywhere he wandered.
That was, until, he met a meek Daydream Anya by the name of Kirie. Instead of fleeing before him like so many had done in the past, she took pity on the monster, cautiously offering him her friendship.
Had this been years prior, Albedo would have laughed at the prospect... but his downward spiral had finally begun to take its toll on his own pride and he begrudgingly accepted Kirie, a shaky bond forged between the two. It was not long after that the Anya offered Albedo a place to stay with her own makeshift family.
It wasn't that much of a choice, in the end.
He was welcomed amongst the strange band of creatures surprisingly well, and to this day resides with them, still hoping to someday return to his true form.
In terms of personality, Albedo still retains a fair bit of his own ego. He's not nearly as prideful as he once was, however, and is gradually learning humility... The Jinx is also very sarcastic and can be downright rude at times, usually towards the likes of Sleet, who harasses him constantly. He has a short temper when it comes to his own powers and abilities; any failure usually sets him off in a rage that's best to just avoid instead of attempting to calm him. Although he'd never admit it, Albedo does care a fair bit for Kirie, as it was her compassion and steadfast friendship that otherwise saved him from his cursed existence alone.
