This Month in Mistica: December '10

This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all -- okay, most -- of the information you need!

December, of course, is focused on one big holiday: Mistmas!

The very first day we celebrated the birthday of one of Mistica's amazing writers, gemajgall! New presents were also released for wrapping up your Mistmas gifts in, everyone began decorating their Mistmas trees, and the Advent Calendar opened up once again.

On the 3rd, Aurelius began his yearly journey over the skies of Mistica, but suddenly fell out of the sky! That same day Queen Boreal cast off some of her kohals for kind users to adopt.

The 5th brought us a huge new collection of Shooting Star Ornaments! Older items, previously retired from last year's Mistmas, were re-released. You were also able to send friends gifts of MP.

The next day, it was revealed that Aurelius's awful crash gave his amnesia! The always wickedly ambitious Queen Boreal took advantage of this, bringing the star into her castle, pretending to be a friend. Three new avatars were also released.

King Blithe is seen two days later, anxiously pacing in his own palace, trying to figure out how to get Aurelius back. New ornaments, tree skirts and white lights were then released for your Mistmas trees.

We got an update on the 9th telling us what the Advent Calendar prizes had been so far.

On the 10th, King Blithe released a whole host of new alchemy recipes, all to create new Mistmas themed items! These could be turned in to Queen Boreal for Aurelius's ransom, but the jolly king seemed to have something else planned for the star's rescue. The lovely Wintercursed Yehxil was also released.

The 13th was exciting indeed; MeriKlaus had created a powder to help heal Aurelius's memory, and all the items being turned in to Boreal were covered with it, unknown to the queen. It was also announced that Rosebud was stocking a bunch of new stockings and Dala Mericai toys for the holidays!

On the 15th, things started looking up; Aurelius was getting flashes of his memories back, and Queen Boreal's alchemy experiments were still failing! Unfortunately, two days later, we see that her alchemy is beginning to come together, thanks to her studies of the items being turned in to her. At least we also got a new shipment of toys to cheer us up: slinkeroos!

Aurelius, on the 20th, was forced to release more kohals from Queen Boreal's service. He didn't seem too happy about it though, and actually stood up to the woman who he had previously obeyed unswervingly. On a more serious note, the rules were also updated, asking members to keep certain personal topics private.

Xeaviel celebrated her 21st birthday on the 21st!

The next day, however, was not so cheerful; Queen Boreal found out how Aurelius's memory was being healed and locked him in a dungeon! In her fury she also stopped accepting the tainted items members were turning in, promising that the star would rot in her castle forever.

Ken Kratork showed up the next day to announce that some brave Misticans had gone to save Aurelius! Their quest was not easy, however, as Queen Boreal had a powerful ally guarding the star: King Kohal, who seemed to grow more powerful the longer he fought. In addition, a slightly late announcement was posted welcoming Rele to the mod team!

The 24th was Isyli's birthday!

And of course, the next day was Mistmas! And an exciting day it proved to be; over 180 members received a Pet Slot Coin as gift from the staff, along with four new stockings! Other members who had been less active received a 7 Day Champion Dust and one random stocking. It was also announced how much we were able to give because of your purchases of the Giving Angel item: $250! Good job, Misticans!

In addition to all of that, Aurelius finally broke free, tossing Queen Boreal into her own dungeons and seeking refuge with King Blithe, but he wasn't powerful enough to head for the skies again! The 27th came with a call to all Misticans to send out good wishes to fuel Aurelius's power. The Frost Braenon and Kratork were also released.

The next few days were hectic! Mistica got a whole new server, but with delays and technical difficulties, had a very long downtime during the switch. Luckily our fearless leader Zarabeythe was watching over the site the whole time! However, on the 31st everything got sorted out, so we have a whole new server for the New Year.

This month closes out the year of 2010, and for Mistica, it was a great twelve months! We grew, but still stayed tightly knit, like any good community would, and we're showing no signs of being torn apart. Merry Mistmas and Happy New Year, Mistica!
