A Mistica Guide to Pet Naming
Written By Aurora

Many people find themselves with a great character idea in their heads but no name to go with it. Well fear not! This article will provide you with everything you need. First of all, there are a variety of ways to go about naming your pet, but I find it easiest to start out with your character idea.

How would you describe your pet? What will your pet look like? What are some personality traits of your pet? What are some words that come to mind when you think of your pet? If you find any words you like, do a quick search and see if any of those names are taken. That will help narrow down your options. You can also use a dictionary. Dictionaries are especially good for words that sound unique or for words you might not think of. If you want the name of your pet to start with a certain letter, dictionaries will be extremely helpful in the brainstorming process.

“Foreign” dictionaries like English-French or English-Spanish are perfect for names with great meanings and an exotic flair. Names in other languages are also less likely to be taken so it is easier for you to get your top choice. And now we arrive at the issue when the perfect name is taken. What in the world do you do? Looking up synonyms of the word can sometimes provide you with alternatives that you had not even thought of before. But what if you are looking for an actual name? What if you are looking for something along the lines of Marie or Alex?

Baby name sites are perfect for this. Many of them not only list out names, but give you meanings and origins as well. Hopefully this guide has helped you find that perfect name. And don’t forget to look around yourself; ordinary things may make awesome words just pop into your head. Inspiration is everywhere!
