Many Names – One Huge Celebration!

One word is on the tip of many tongues
One word will spur a barrage of festivities
That’s right; you heard whispers of it
LANTURNACHT!
Some people call it Halloween, some call it All Hallows Eve. And for all of us batty ones?
LANTURNACHT!
Some people may joyously and naively float on the cusp of the celebration. (Looks at self) Meanwhile, a few other craz- lovely people enjoy throwing candy in people’s faces and cackling madly. Anyhow, what’s in a name?
It seems Lanturnacht is derived from lantern, and the German word for night- nacht. Why Lantern Night? If one looks at the plot of last year, a key factor was the pommekins shedding light and preventing foul spirits from attacking. In older times Halloween was a holiday in which the spiritual elders would dress up in costumes to prevent the dead from coming back.
