Lyra's News Report
Written By Xeiana
Behind Lyra is the annual Build-Your-Own Pirate Boat Race where competitors are shown prepping their masterpieces for the beginning of the race in the next few days.
Lyra: Hello and thank you for re-joining me at the Windy Cove near Long Beach. I’m Lyra from Mistic News Channel 3, and behind me, if you look, Misticans from all over Mistica are joining in this year’s Build-Your-Own Pirate Boat Race.
The camera moves slightly to the left to show many competitors as they adjust the various sails on their creations.
Lyra: The youngest competitor we have competing in these next few days is only four years old, such a bright young mind! On the other hand, our oldest is, well…
Lyra looks sheepish.
Lyra: She has requested to keep her age off of the air, but her piece is magnificent to behold. Evan, if you will.
Evan turns the camera to a far competitor, whose face cannot be seen but is standing next to a miniature but lifelike pirate ship.
Lyra: There is still time to sign up for this race, so if you find yourself interested and already having a boat you’ve made, or if you’re more ambitious and can build yours in the next two days, then you can sign up here at the Cove or online. Remember, the boats must be waterproof and rely only on windpower.
Lyra smiles as she signals Evan to end the live feed.
Lyra: Okay, we can grab some competitors to interview in the next half hour and our boss should be pleased. And no Evan, we can’t enter the race this year. Of course since we’re covering it this time, we can’t try and claim our third place again. Oh?
Something gold has caught Lyra’s eyes and Evan pauses as the camera drops to face the sand, still on.
Evan: What is it Lyra?
Lyra: Someone must have dropped something in the sand, one second…
She fishes out a couple of golden coins from the sand and frowns.
Lyra: Strange, must be one of the kids running around with their fake pirate gold, but it seems heavier than normal. Oh well, we’ll figure this out later once we have this done. Oh gosh Evan, turn the camera off!
