Pandoria's Favor, Part II
Written By Fay

Pandoria’s staff shone like a second sun atop the quarry’s peak. She looked down at Rae and saw the goddess, once bright and full of life, now sprawled out on the rocks. Pandoria, squinting against the blinding light of her own power, couldn’t even see if Rae was still breathing. She’s gone already, the goddess told herself, and I will soon follow.

A glance down showed her that Seht had stopped his ascent. He hissed and snapped his fangs, purple tail lashing about, sending rocks careening down the mountain. “You can’t ssstop me, Pandoria! You’re dying for nothing!” The god declared. And true to his word, he hissed and pushed on, though the power of Pandoria and Rae, concentrated in her staff, should not have allowed him to even speak.

There is something I’m not seeing…he cannot be this powerful! Pandoria thought, fighting back panic. As her staff’s gem glowed even brighter, she looked at Rae, but the goddess was still, her eyes open but lifeless and glassy. A prickle of fear made Pandoria grimace. Had Rae died for nothing, as Seht claimed?

All too soon the zisscor was upon her. He grinned. Against the blackening sky his violet aura pulsed and surrounded him like a million shards of glass; Pandoria’s eyes widened, as she’d never seen him look so foreboding. Then she noticed an odd gleam around Seht’s neck, a pure brightness that stood out starkly against the god’s own darkness. Its shine was so familiar…Pandoria gasped.

“Lysithea,” she breathed, and now true fear held her heart. The goddess narrowed her eyes, her face like stone as she stared down what would surely be her death.

“Oh yesss, Pandoria! My sssecret,” Seht cackled, “A piece of your old home. Itsss magic isss ssso ancient, even you and Rae combined cannot ssstand againssst it!”

All true, Pandoria knew, but it would not be said that she stood by and died while Mistica fell into chaos. With Rae gone, the goddess stood alone, and held her radiant staff above her head.

Her stony façade broke and her canine mouth twisted into a low growl. With a wordless yell Pandoria rushed at Seht, the power of two goddesses lighting her way, and brought the staff down hard upon the god still laughing at her.
