Character Spotlight: Lissa and the Haunted Library

Many enter the Haunted Library to look for the newest page turner, but few actually delve deep enough into its shadows to know the secrets that it holds. Managed by Lissa and previously by her mother and her mother's mother and her mother's mother's mother, the library has been said to stray into the realm of paranormal.

There may be some truth to these claims, and in order to find it out, Lissa herself was interviewed and responded to the following questions.

Q: Is it true that books have sensitive ears?
A: Of course, that's why its important for libraries and bookstores to be quiet.

Q: Do the books actually talk to you?
A: Why yes.

Q: What do they tell you?
A: Stories, of course.

Q: Do you ever get lonely running the entire bookstore by yourself?
A: Oh, never. My mother and grandmother and great grandmother never truly left me, you know. The spirits of those we love live on in every single page of literature. I can feel my mother's flipper each time I open the same cover she once held. And together, through reading, we can take journeys to all the corners of Mistica. So no, I never do feel alone.

Q: But how do you manage everything day to day? Between the cataloging, inventory, customer service, and reading, how do you find time to do it all?
A: Like I said before, I'm not alone. Within each novel dwells dozens of characters. Some are friendly, and some are not. Some are heroic, and others are cowardly. There are those who are strong and brave, and those who are cunning—or intelligent or evil or noble or romantic or daring. And many, if asked nicely, are more than willing to lend a paw.

Q: You're saying...book characters help you?
A: Naturally. Do not merely think they're ink and parchment—every character has his or her own life. It's not too hard to feel—to see once you begin to read.

Q: You seem to be quite passionate about books.
A: I have a romance with them. Each one has its own life...its own world. That's why books are so heavy, you know, they contain entire realms inside.

Q: Sorry to deviate topics a little bit...but are there any books you would recommend?
A: That's like trying to recommend a robe for each star in the sky. What I have found is that those who want my books, those who long for them from the depths of their hearts, will find them. My books call out to the very soul of Misticpets—in the end, the book and the owner will meet.

Q: For the last question...what do you have to say about the reports of there being phantom Misticpets that haunted your library at night?
A: That would be a wonderful story, wouldn't it?
