This Month in Mistica: July '12
Written By Caustic
This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all -- okay, most -- of the information you need!
July began to heat up with the imps and sprites going at each other once again! Hopefully Pandoria won’t have to step in this time...
Queen Boreal made a few kohals brave the summer heat after the ruby kohal was discovered on the 2nd.
The 3rd brought us some colorful additions to the Vending Machine!
Independence Day was one big affair with shopkeepers releasing all of their seasonal items, and a Patriotic Sticker was available in the Giveaway.
Two days later, the sprites reported that Dr. Erlenmeyer, who’d discovered the kirui and had gone back to research them further, had been kidnapped by imps! Luckily, we had the wonderful Crotalus’s birthday to celebrate! A new Rattleznake was released to honor the occasion.
Misticans began choosing sides – imp or sprite – on the 11th. We also congratulated RuthieRox, Mistica’s new Site Manager!
The next day, King Mephitic began to suspect that all wasn’t well with his captive. Meanwhile, Joel and Alana met with the royal sprite twins, and thought they had the imps’ motivations figured out: they wanted the power of the kirui, and Dr. Erlenmeyer knew of the most powerful!
It looked like a little more bad luck was headed our way, as Friday the 13th was upon us! Jinx appeared and some were adopted, while the lovely and frightening daydream and nightmare jinx were released.
On the 17th, sprites and imps began a race for power. Dr. Erlenmeyer had been knocked silly during her capture and spoke in broken, senseless dialogue that the imps had to figure out, and the sprites were assisted by a terrified Dr. Kirsch, Erlenmeyer’s protégée. Frightened that the imps would discover her if she went to the sprites with the information outright, she sent them riddles.
Two days later, the imps and sprites clever enough to solve those riddles and bits of nonsense began trying to persuade their kirui to help their cause. The Vial of Dreams and Hand of Infamy were offered, but will either side win over the ancient creatures?
A brief announcement was posted on the 20th, along with a Mistmas in July sale! During the month a few “surprise” items stocked in limited quantities in the Credit Shop.
The next day we saw the kiruis being swayed towards their respective sides. The daydream kirui seemed pleased with the sprites and their offering, but the nightmare kirui wasn’t too happy with the imps! Turns out King Mephitic was falling behind the royal sprite twins, and the nightmare kirui demanded he get ahead.
On the 25th sprite and imp supporters were called to show their colors! Daydream and nightmare themed profile contests were announced with some amazing prizes!
Of course, such displays of loyalty were meant to gather more followers, as both the imps and sprites wanted Mistica on their side. Magic was still working apart from the war, however, with the release of the Voodoo Aetra on the 26th.
The war hasn’t come to fighting yet, but who knows what sort of damage two powerful kirui could bring upon the world?
