Mistica is full of fascinating and strange beings of every kind of imagining. Some are well known, while others are not, Imps being of the latter. Imps dwell in the darkest shadows of Darkwood Hollow, rarely coming out. When these creatures do come out of hiding, it's a site to behold! Imps are mainly known for one thing: mischief! They adore to pull pranks on others for entertainment; a perpetual April Fool's way of life, if you will. These pranks can be pulled on their own kind, but they focus on outsiders. Recently in the Hollow, it seems they've been stirring much more than usual. Evidence of their "entertainment" can be seen throughout the forest with red paint driping from doors, trees and pretty much anything else. While all chaos swirls about, one particular Imp stands in the middle of it all with a sneer on his face. It's King Mephitic, ruler of the Imps!

Mistica's researchers found this such an extraordinary opportunity to gather more information on this race of creatures that they had to speak to the king. What follows is a field report of King Mephitic and his subjects taken directly from a researcher's journal.

"May 27, 2009

The research team has been camped out in Darkwood Hollow for some time now...After a shop-keeper named Tormic vanished, the team decided to stake out here to see what events may unfold. Upon Tormic's return, he had with him many new creatures. Some were beautiful, and others...not so much. They seemed to be of the same species we've seen, but morphed into something different. The team wanted to see a few up close, but as we approached the shop, a new figure emerged from the shadows..

It was an Imp! How exciting! This was the first time anyone had actually seen one! Thus far, we had only heard tales of them, and judging from this guy, he was no ordinary Imp. He was their king!

He spoke to everyone in the clearing angrily. Apparently Tormic had stolen these creatures from him and his people, and he was out for revenge. With a quick angry speech and gesture, hordes of his loyal subjects came from the darkness to start their revenge. Mephitic turned to recede into the shadows, but stopped. His huge bat-like ears twitched around, locating sounds. A sneer crept across his face, then he turned in our direction!

"You there! Show yourselves, or feel the wrath of the Imp King!"

We crept out of our hiding spot slowly, trying to show that we meant no harm. The Imp King strode up to us, taking stock of everything about us.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

I took the role of spokes-person since no one else on the team thought to do so.

"We are just here to gather information. We heard that something was stirring here in the Hollow, and wanted to see what that might be. That's all. I said, hoping that he would just let us go.

"Information for what?"

"For the general Mistican public. It gives them something to read about."

The Imp King laughed at that. "Oh! In that case, we imps will really give them something to read about! First, this was going to be reserved just for Tormic, but you've inspired me to achieve greater levels of chaos! Imps! Gather round! Your King Mephitic has a new plan for you! We will spread our mischief far and wide! Leave no un-suspecting victim un-pranked! Go now, and let our wrath be felt by Misticans everywhere!"

With that, the Imp hordes scattered, leaving just out team in the clearing. Mephitic was gone. We couldn't help but think that whatever happens next, it will have been partly out fault..."

The research team couldn't gather very much on the Imp King it seems. However, with his recent appearence, he's made a lasting impression on Mistica. Everywhere you looks, his Imp minions are reeking havoc all throughout Mistica. Countless victims are being pranked every hour. What can MIstica do? What can be done to appease the Imp King? At some point, some unlucky Imp will prank the wrong person, and then what can be done? Only time will tell...
