Reusing Ostara Items
Written By Caustic
Ostara is over, but your house is still overrun with bows, eggs, dye pots, rubber bands and various bunny-themed goodies! If you're like me you obsessively clicked refresh every five minutes to try and hunt down those elusive ingredients and stocked up way too much. What to do with all that stuff? After all, it cost a fortune, so you don't want to just throw it away!
In my own experimenting I've come across several nifty ways to reuse those Ostara items (besides stashing them away for next year, which is much too sensible), so read on and be enlightened!
Plain Ostara Bows: TP'ing Your Neighbor's House
Why bother with flimsy paper products that can easily be torn down or dissolve in the rain when you have perfectly good ribbons? Undo the bows, tie them together, and go crazy! The fibers will get caught by tree branches, rough bark and any lights or decorations affixed to the house. They're much sturdier than plain old TP and a hundred times harder to remove!
Dye Pots (all colors): DIY Toadstools
After the rush of buying all this stuff for Ostara, our bank accounts are probably suffering and we're all exhausted, so who has the time and money to go hunting for Feron and her toadstools? Those dye pots can do a wonderful job of changing your pet's color with just a quick trip to the Holiday Shop! Simply grab a few pots and toss them right onto your pet's fur. Want a desert pet? Gold dye pot! Riverside? Teal! The empty pots are perfect for mixing, so the possibilities are endless! Unfortunately they're not waterproof, so you'll never be able to bathe your pet again.
Plain Ostara Bows: Lanturnaucht Costume
It's never too early to start planning your Lanturnaucht costume, and these bows are perfect for a homemade one! As with the TP idea, you have to untie the bow and string several together. After that, wrap them around your whole body and voila -- a mummy! And when the night is over, toss off the ribbons and use them for the perfect trick (again, see TP idea)! Just please wear something underneath -- a tank top and shorts at least.
Rubber Bands: Become a Pirate!
Yes, we have many pirate-themed goodies, but wearing them won't MAKE you a pirate! Fix that with a rubber band. Just take one, stretch it out in front of your eye and release -- BAM! Instant pirate! Grab an eye patch and you're good to go.
Spring Baskets: Centerpiece
Those baskets aren't just for holding eggs! The warm months mean new, brightly blooming flowers, so venture outside, pick a few and arrange them in one of these baskets -- just watch out for the fuzzy bees, as they get considerably less cute when angry. The work is worth it for a wonderful table centerpiece!
Paint by Numbers Egg: Temporary Tattoos
So you've used the dye pots to re-color your pet, but who wants to be monochromatic? The slim, pointed brush and array of colors that come with the egg are perfect for painting on detailed markings; again, no baths allowed.
Bunny Nose: Anya Deterrent
Have a problem with wild anyai clawing up your flowers and leaving unwelcome things in your yard? Just strap this nose onto any one of your pets and let them loose! You'll never be bothered again, because as we all know, anyai have a terrible fear of bunny noses.
Bunny Hats (all colors): Earmuffs
This one should be obvious. I don't know why anyone would wear a hat that has long, thick ears dangling from it in such warm weather, so save it for autumn and winter! The floppy ears will keep yours warm no matter what, and the colors will make sure you stand out!
Of course, those are only a few of the wonderful things you can do with your leftover Ostara items. Get creative on your own! Use bunny ears to get a clearer TV signal, splash dye on your house...or, of course, stash everything away, but I'm sure I already mentioned what a boring option that is.
