The Beginner's Guide to Coloring Pet Profiles
Written By Inception
Have you ever had difficulty coordinating the colors on your pet's profile? Well, here's a quick guide on getting started!
To edit your CSS (CSS is 'cascading style sheet', meaning, through Misticpet's CSS, you can both change the colors on your pet's profile and change the size of the three box columns), go to the desired pet's profile, look at the navigation bar at the top, then click on "Edit Profile". You will then click on the image that says "CSS Styles". This should take you to a page that's labeled "Change Pet Profile CSS", and the first step will be to change the scroll down menu directly beneath this from "Default Layout CSS" to Pet Options CSS". Now you're good to go!
A good first start is taking the main color of your pet's body and setting it as the Body Background Color, as this is the most common color. You can also set your text to this color once you get all colors in place, if it seems to blend.
As for the header, pick a minor color that either shows up very little on your pet or a color that flows well. For instance, if you have a Lanturn pet, purple goes really well with them. Same goes for the color of the pet's name.
Alright, now that you've gotten those done, let's look at the boxes. If you want to really go far, you can do different colors for all of the boxes, but for Pandoria's sake, let's go with one set scheme for one box for now.
For this example, we are going to use Deathly, my Toxic Gurahdi. What you don't want is blinding colors, and as you see on her profile, I used very little of the 'toxic' green. My links and her name are both in that green, but the background they're on don't hurt people's eyes (hopefully!). Then, for the header background on her boxes, I used a light purple, because her feet are a bit purple and that color goes well with green, in my opinion. I didn't have any text, but if I were to put some up there, it's color would be the darker purple of the box's body background color. As you see, the color of the text is the color of the main background!
Now that you've gotten all of this stuff, you may still need help. I know I have tons of trouble with both Nightmare and Daydream pets, so I'll do a little bit on them, and if you need further help, contact me or comment below!
So, for the Daydream pet, we'll use Desolation as a terrible example. I have the most difficulty with DD pets, I'll admit, while others can make their colors flawless. Now, you'll see that I used mostly dull colors, but I tried to include most of her design colors. For the background, try dull colors (gray, lavender, pastel red, etc.) to counter any splotches of bright colors, and try to use them sparingly unless your character is simply a bright one. If you want, keep colors limited to headers, text, and links. Another thing you can do is use a black body background and keep the colors overall dull.
As for Nightmare pets, you could use bits of green, gray, and black to counter the red and navy blue. Unfortunately, I don't have an example here for you guys!
What I would recommend is using a dark color for the background (blue, dark gray, black), and using other dark/dull colors for box backgrounds, then using lighter red or white for text and links.
For more examples, here's;
Before, Frost.
After, Inferno.
Bet, Apocalyptic.
Lunar, Phantom.
Evoi, Terror.
Miasm, Lanturn.
and
Space, Zodiac.
I hope those examples give you ideas for those themes, but please don't copy too much; I take pride in these.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you've learned a thing or two!
